I own an old Victorian house built in the 1890’s. Metal detected my Yard today (I also live in WV). I dug up a completely clear (greenish blue) marble. No design, but transparent. It was obviously a child’s favorite because it has impact strikes all over it. No idea what year it could be though. I pulled out a spoon from 1910 less than a foot from it too.

If it’s an old codd marble, is that what all of the impact points are? I assumed it was a child’s glass marble that was heavily used.

I recently found my old collection of marbles from my childhood. There’s this marble I always liked, it is clear with different colored specks on the outside. The specks are partially exposed because they are not fully in the glass. Do you know what kind of marble it is? I don’t know how to search for it. It probably isn’t worth anything seeing as there’s a chip missing (I really liked this marble as a kid).

I was wondering how Master gets the same rolled up caterpillar look to the consistency? It’s must be in the way the liquid glass pours into the machine or is it the design of the marble machine itself that creates the pattern? In my glass studio I would twist up a cane really tight then bend the top over to touch the bottom and melt round. No way a machine doing that tho. Hmmm...??? Any insight?

From 2:34 to 244 scratch my itch. Probably by Sunday I'll cease bidding and buying. My mailman won't be happy. At least they aren't bowling balls.

sorry, for me they look the same... ive seen big plastic boxes (maybe around 10 kg) filled with very old marbles. i wanted to find some uniqe looking ones but i gave up. its quite common to see them in thrift stores in netherlands like "RataPlan". one thing i can say they look very similar to what you show on this video.

Thanks Old School , while their marbles don’t always rank among the most collectable machine-mades for collectors …their packaging and displays were some of the coolest pieces you can find. Congratulations!
