Also, this video is attempting to compare video essays to shitty edgy KZbin shorts which is also disingenuous. Just because they have the same goal of gaining views doesn't mean their respective means of doing so are morally equivalent. His clout chasing was never my issue with oogway. After all, you clout chase, I clout chase, every youtuber clout chases. Nevertheless, his clout chasing is much more problematic than ours' and that of commentary channels. The difference resides amongst who is being affected. A plague on the youth (myself included), is the prolonged diminishment of attention spans in conjunction with exploitation of impressionable children. Oogway checks both of the boxes by contributing to an infinite shorts feed whilst simultaneously pumping out latently racist content. While they are masked as "just a joke", his shorts still leave a negative impression on his viewers which are comprised of mostly children and teens. Let's compare this to the commentary channels criticizing him. Commentary channels, while still being exploitive of attention, post longer-form content which is less detrimental to attention span. Additionally, they denounce the arguably racist jokes even if they are being over the top. They present less problems overall. For this reason, commentary channels actually have the moral high ground and you are unjustified in condoning oogway by comparing him to his accusers. As for contributing to his popularity, commentary channels and oogway have considerably different viewer demographics. Oogway's viewers are primarily younger and reside in youtube shorts while commentary channels attract an older audience on the main platform. While there is overlap, a commentary video will typically bring negative attention to oogway via the mobilization of a more mature audience while short-form content replicating oogway will bring more positive attention to him through a younger audience. Because of this, the algorithm is more likely to piggyback commentary channels with other commentary channels as opposed to oogway. So, by leaving this comment, I am bringing a net negative attention to oogway. While I do think you make a valid point regarding the issue of the unoriginality of commentary channels, there is much greater of an issue in this particular situation. By the way, this is the only commentary video I watched on the issue and I really appreciate that you are willing to engage in a levelheaded discussion.

Since this popped up and looked to have an opposing viewpoint, I thought it would be interesting to leave my thoughts.

If you have an issue with short form content, then that's fine, but Oogway is not the man to blame for that. After all, if Oogway gets banned tomorrow, YT Shorts is still gonna keep on going, with or without him. If you take issue with this type of content, then your frustrations would be far better suited at KZbin or TikTok for that matter. Also I don't believe Oogway is seriously going to ruin this generation of children. His current wave of popularity on a site as vapid as YT Shorts will inevitably fade out once this controversy blows over. And I don't agree at all with the sentiment that video essay channels have the moral high ground on matters like this. Just because YT Shorts content leads to a lower attention span, doesn't mean that there aren't creators who use this format to their advantage and make genuinely great content. Complexity and length does not inherently mean better. Also I still don't agree with stance on calling him out will cause him to lose popularity. The numbers don't lie, Oogway is more popular than ever before. Because of the negativity bias, its just human nature to gravitate more towards negativity than positivity. You can say how criticizing him will help out your cause in this matter, but the majority of people seeing these video essays calling out Oogway will only make his name stick out more in their minds, and in the process checking out Oogway, thus leading to more of his popularity.

I've watched this video almost three times (you're welcome for the watch time btw) but I don't understand where you're coming from. You aimed to make this video about the current drama surrounding Oogway, you said this yourself. But as you understand yourself in the end of the video, you just criticised commentary channels for rightfully doing what commentary market on KZbin does. They are obligated both as people with platforms and as commentary channels to publicly call out people who act like this. You compare this person to Jake Paul but for the first time in a while I can safely say Oogway proves that Jake is not the most out of touch person on social media. He made bad decisions and got lucky, I know for a fact we won't be saying this about Oogway. In the end this seems like you're just trying to have a different take, but just from your editing I can see you've been around. You probably grew up with social media as many of us did. You know full well this was not the way to 4D chess your way around into getting your platform back. Let's not give people credit for something they acted in complete tastelessness. This is coming of as glazing at best and as being racist apologist at worst. You have real potential of building a platform on your own and I hope comments can help you grow. There is some stuff you said I disagree with but I wont go over them as I want to focus on the good here. Your assumption about my longevity on this platform was correct as ive been trying for 2 years now to make it on youtube, and yes, I did grow up with social media(mainly youtube).
