Gold ships have a very limited appeal- I hope Master Replicas doesn't take the wrong message from these low sales: that BSG is a dead line. I want ships that look like the original models! The Rising Star; Colonial Movers; the Ship of Lights; the Eastern Alliance ship; even the Agro Ship from "Silent Running"- everything except maybe Randolph Mantooths shuttle from " Greetings from Earth" !😂

As much of a fan as I am of Battlestar Galactica and the Pegasus stories specifically, I never really wanted to have duplicates of the same exact model with just different names on the ship, same with Star Trek ships I would rather have a completely different ship than an easy duplicate with a different name and registration. It would be cool instead if they released the Galactica or Pegasus variant from the reimagined series which would really be a new and different ship.

In the novel adaptation the show. The Battlestars were all supposed to be different based on the designs of their home worlds. But for the show the cost of building the Galactica made building a fleet of unique capital ships was prohibitively expensive so you got a fleet of Galacticas

Hopefully Master Replicas will not assume that the Galactica license is uninteresting because the gold models don't sell (I will definetly buy no golden ships!)... Of course a line extension with completely new ships is the way to go. I would love to see more ships from the classic fleet (the one with "Colonial Movers" written on a container for example), the 6.Millenium Viper or the new Cylon Raider from Galactica 1980. There are so many options, come on Master Replicas, launch new ships when ready!!! 😉

I got the Blood and Chrome Galactica and the TOS Viper, very nice! Good to see Galactica in her glory. Perhaps MR would make improved TOS Galactica and fleet ships in prime glory, similar or improved Moebius Model. Not much of gold fan, but if it incentivises MR to make more, then so be it.

Well, since it's a gold edition, with no other markings, it technically qualifies as a Pegasus gold edition as well as a Galactica. It's two ships for the price of one! :p As for gold editions in general, that's what you do, when you mess up a model. You cut it in half, paint it gold, then mount it to a plaque. It's an expendable piece that you can give to Captain Picard to destroy.

This is a cash grab in more than one way. The gold coating is a simple one process with a lot less labor costs than the accurate weathered finishes. It's a cheaper product at a premium price.

I have the Eaglemoss Viper, Galactica, Raider, and Base Ship... They all seem very anatomically correct and the paint jobs are good enough with solid bases to hold them.

Eaglemoss and later those who bought them out sold models of Star Trek ships. Not just the ships we see but also early design concepts of the ships that weren't used. It's come to my attention that they had a different design originally for the Pegasus. I think it would be cool if they came out with that design.

I always wonder if they had originally planned to have landing gear on the Viper as those notches on the bottom are where the gear would slot in if they have been made. And I agree, the gold versions are really kinda tacky in my opinion. I think a better variant would be to paint them black and then do green lines on the ships to make them look as they do in the electronic 'war book' displays on the ships.

Do we know for sure that MR actually _produced_ these models, or were they simply the leftover stock from Eaglemoss? At most, their license may not have allowed them to produce new models, but maybe they negotiated a deal that allowed them to gold plate existing models. In other words, we can bemoan the fact that they didn't make anything new, but their license may not allow them to make anything new. So it may not be fair to dump on MR for something they don't control.

I hate to dump another bucket of water on the Galactica collectors, but it also was announced today that Master Replicas can’t sell anymore of the Star Trek stuff after June 15. As Fanhome has acquired the license and will be offering a new line. Master Replicas had hoped to continue with the Star Trek starships cash cow. So not sure how that loss will hit them? Or how it will impact their cash flow for other lines.

The reason they and other companies do this is because it's easier and cheaper to re-package an existing model than to tool a new one. Tooling is the most expensive part of making new model and the most risky, as they don't know what can or will sell until they "test" the market under the new brand. They first have to recoup their costs and build capital before they can expect to expend more money on new tools. The reason Eaglemoss went out of business in the first place is because they were producing too much too quickly, flooding the market. When you flood the market, people have to decide what to buy in a certain time frame and will sacrifice models they can't afford to get the ones they can, and thus a lot of product ends up no selling at all. Plus, and frankly, Eaglemoss' quality and size of the models for the prices they were asking were not a very good value to begin with. That's why I never bought any myself.

I'm not a real big fan of gold but I have to say the viper is kind of cool looking. As a special limited edition I can see that being something of a smaller market. I'm not a fan of the Galactica or Cylon Basestar versions in gold though. I think these were created by people that aren't really fans of the show or the community. Doesn't mean they should do it, because you never know until you try. I just hope they didn't sink alot of money into this being a thing for the larger fanbase. That viper though, If I was into collecting, I'd have one.

Shame, wouldn't be too difficult to know what most fans would like to see, they don't seem to take the IP seriously enough or they just don't want to make money. Manufacturers could join/check fan communities as an example, engage with fans, next related product polls, show mouthwatering pics of new ships etc...

It was announced today that they lost the Star Trek license, and have to fire sale out what they have by June 15th. The other question is do they have or have the rights to Eaglemoss’s tooling? Or did they just get what was in the warehouse when they went under? You can gold plate whatever they had in the warehouse without too much issue. The gold covers existing paint. But to release a Pegasus they probably need a new run of the Galactica mold to paint as Pegasus.

1978 Battlestar Galactica is classic. I'd love to see genuinely new products from Master Replicas since they have taken over for Eaglemoss. These gold repaints; however are very disappointing. If they were to reissue older releases like the Viper at a reasonable cost, I'd be interested or new classic Galactica ships or figures.

I'm calling BS on this clickbait. I was there at the beginning of Eaglemoss back in 2013 and have collected every ship/figure in multiple lines from them including the BSG range and never once did Ben tease a OG Pegasus or any other OG Battlestar. Never. He has gone on the record to state that pretty much any ship that was commercially viable to Eaglemoss had been done. Period. The rag tag fleet would not have sold in the quantities to make them viable. Master replicas are currently selling the remainder of the ships that were in the pipeline with EM at various stages but once they are done (gold and viper variants) that's it. They have not picked up a licence to make any more ships in the line.
