When you're reading a passage and trying to figure out the supporting details, think of them as the building blocks that back up the main idea or argument. They're like the evidence or examples that help make the main point clearer and more convincing. A good way to spot them is to first identify the main idea - usually found in the first few sentences - and then look for sentences that give more information about it. And yes, you're on the right track with key points and main ideas! They're pretty similar. The main idea is like the big picture or the primary message of the passage, while the key points are the major pieces of information that support or elaborate on that main idea. If the main idea is the destination, the key points are the major stops along the way. If you struggled with a couple of questions, don't sweat it too much. It's all part of the learning process. Maybe try practicing with a few more passages, and after reading each one, try summarizing the main idea in your own words and then list out the supporting details or key points. It's like putting together the pieces of a puzzle - with a bit more practice, you'll start to see the whole picture more clearly! 📚🔍🧩

what’s the difference with topic sentence and main idea? i remember in one of ur video, u said topic sentences are usually in the beginning while main idea is in the end of paragraph?

In some paragraphs, especially in persuasive or argumentative texts, the main idea might be summarized or reinforced in the last sentence, serving as a conclusion or a powerful statement to ensure the reader understands the central concept. So, while the topic sentence introduces the specific topic of a paragraph, the main idea gives a broader overview of what the entire text or paragraph conveys.
