I'm glad to hear that you're finding the videos helpful! While I primarily focus on the TEAS test, I am somewhat familiar with the PAX test. The PAX test is similar to the TEAS in that it assesses your knowledge and skills in various academic areas. However, the content and format of the test may differ slightly from the TEAS. I would recommend checking with the schools you're applying to for more specific information about the PAX test and what you can do to prepare for it. Best of luck to you!

If someone were taking this test in let's say one or two days with very little prep time (I decided to be a nurse last week, nursing school director is being kind enough to let me join the spring cohort even though I missed the deadline) which sections would you recommend I focus study on? I'm fairly set on the English portion. The math is hard for me since I have Dyscalculia but I'm studying that heavily anyway. Should I focus more on chemistry, A&P or something else?
@NurseCheung
@NurseCheung 5 ай бұрын
Sounds like you have a lot on your plate and most likely have already taken your test. Congratulations on making the decision to become a nurse. The Science section can change significantly based on those who have taken the test. Some found there were more A&P questions, while others felt there were more Chemistry questions. My advice is based on the outline that is provided by ATI. Science, particularly Anatomy & Physiology (A&P), is a significant part of the TEAS. It could be an excellent area to concentrate on if you have some background knowledge or find it easier to grasp. Reviewing basic concepts and systems can provide an excellent boost to your score. With Chemistry, if you have time left after A&P, a quick review of basic chemistry concepts can be helpful, especially if these are areas you're not as familiar with. Focus on the fundamentals like atomic structure, essential chemical reactions, and properties of water.

I’m not getting an explanation when I do each question on the website. It’s in test mode, which is great but not what I want at this time. How can I have taken A&P within the last few months and forget most of what I learned. I probably crammed for these test, but I really did read and understood the text. I Participated in all lectures. Studied and scored A’s in my class. God help me.
@NurseCheung
@NurseCheung 8 ай бұрын
Oh, I totally understand your frustration! 🌼 Here's some advice and encouragement: Retention: It's entirely normal to forget material, even if you've recently studied it. The brain tends to remember information it sees as "used" or "relevant." When you cram for an exam, you're often storing the information in your short-term memory, and it can fade if not continually reviewed or applied. Spaced Repetition: Instead of cramming, try the spaced repetition technique. Revisit topics at spaced intervals (a day later, three days later, a week later, etc.). This helps reinforce your memory and move information from short-term to long-term storage. Active Learning: Engage with the material in multiple ways. Watch videos, write notes, teach someone else, do practice problems, participate in discussions, etc. The more diverse your interactions with the content, the better your understanding and retention. You've got the dedication and determination, as evidenced by your A's in class. 🌟 Trust in your capabilities and give yourself time. You've got this! 💪✨ Sending you all the positive vibes and wishes for success! 🙌💖🌈

If I come across a Hierarchy question on the TEAS, would it mention if it's looking from specific to more general or reverse?
@NurseCheung
@NurseCheung 8 ай бұрын
For the TEAS, when you come across hierarchy questions, the test typically specifies the direction they want you to consider, whether it's from specific to more general or vice versa. It's essential to read the question thoroughly and note any specific instructions or keywords. For instance, if a question asks you to organize structures from the smallest (most specific) to the largest (most general), you would be moving from specific to more general. If the question prompts the reverse, it will indicate that clearly. Always take a moment to re-read the question to ensure you understand the prompt fully. This can make all the difference in selecting the correct answer. Good luck with your TEAS, and remember, careful reading is key! 📖🌟🍀 You've got this! 💪🌈🙌

The only question i have is 24, why would there be more nucleotides in G1 phase before S phase when it replicates??
@NurseCheung
@NurseCheung 10 ай бұрын
During the G1 phase of the cell cycle, the cell prepares for DNA replication in the S phase. The reason there are more nucleotides in the G1 phase before the S phase is because the cell is actively synthesizing new nucleotides in preparation for DNA replication. As the S phase begins, the DNA replication machinery utilizes these available nucleotides to replicate the DNA. Therefore, the number of nucleotides increases in the G1 phase to ensure that there are sufficient building blocks for DNA synthesis in the subsequent S phase.

@NurseCheung

Think of the practice exams as your training ground! 🏋️‍♀️ Each question you tackle is like a muscle you're building for the big day. It's definitely important to clarify any confusion regarding practice test answers, especially when preparing for important exams like the TEAS. If you're finding discrepancies in the Smart Edition practice test answers, the best course of action would be to directly reach out to Smart Edition for clarification. They should be able to provide insight into why certain answers were marked as correct or incorrect and help clear up any confusion. I have some new videos coming out in February that will help answer a lot of these questions to hopefully help alleviate any confusion. 📚🌿👍

Are these questions similar in the way they are asked as the one on the TEAS? I feel like they seem overly simplified but I don't want to underestimate the actual TEAS.
@NurseCheung
@NurseCheung 4 ай бұрын
It's a great question to consider how practice questions compare to the actual TEAS exam. Generally, practice questions are designed to mimic the style and content of the TEAS, but there can be variations in difficulty. The goal is to give you a good sense of the types of questions you'll encounter and to help you prepare effectively. While some practice questions might seem simpler, they're often structured that way to help you build a foundational understanding. The actual TEAS exam can vary in its level of challenge, covering a range of easy to more complex questions. It's important to be prepared for a variety of question types and difficulties. Best of luck with your TEAS preparation! It's great that you're taking a thoughtful approach to your study, and I'm sure it will serve you well on the exam. 🌟📚👍🍀

Hello, if I take the Teas and not pass all the subjects do I have to retake the entire test or just the parts I failed ?
@NurseCheung
@NurseCheung 8 ай бұрын
If you take the TEAS and do not pass all the subjects, you will need to retake the entire test. The TEAS exam is typically administered as a single, comprehensive test, and the scores for each subject are integrated into an overall composite score. Institutions often consider the composite score when evaluating applicants. Before retaking the TEAS, it's a good idea to review your scores, identify your areas of weakness, and create a targeted study plan to improve in those areas. This can increase your chances of passing the exam on your next attempt.

Wouldn't the S phase have the most nucleotides since we are replicating and doubling our DNA thus more nucleotides are present?
@NurseCheung
@NurseCheung 7 ай бұрын
Absolutely, you're on the right track! Let's break this down: During the S phase (Synthesis phase) of the cell cycle, DNA replication takes place. This means that each chromosome is duplicated. As a result, by the end of the S phase, the amount of DNA in the cell has essentially doubled. When discussing the number of nucleotides, you're right. Since DNA is made up of nucleotides (Adenine, Thymine, Cytosine, and Guanine), when we say that the amount of DNA has doubled, we're also implying that the number of nucleotides has doubled. So, if we were to compare a cell just before the S phase and a cell just after the S phase, the latter would indeed have twice the number of nucleotides due to the replication of DNA. Good observation! 🧬🔍👍

Why is 24 not S phase if S phase is the actual part of the cell cycle where the DNA is copied?
@NurseCheung
@NurseCheung 7 ай бұрын
It seems like you're referencing a specific question or context where "24" and "S phase" are mentioned. Without the full context, I can't provide a direct answer. However, I can explain a bit about the S phase. The S phase (Synthesis phase) is a specific part of the cell cycle, particularly in the interphase portion, where DNA replication occurs. During the S phase, each chromosome is replicated to produce two identical sister chromatids. This ensures that the two daughter cells will have the same genetic material after cell division. If you could provide more context or elaborate on the question, I'd be more than happy to assist further! 😊🔬🧬

I'm here to help as much as I can through these channels. Best of luck with your studies! 🌟📚👍
