Bruh, i did EVERYTHING ocean fishing! all titles all fish all everyitng! i thought i was DONE. This event brings me back and i realize THERE IS AN ENTIRELY NEW ROUTE WITH ALL NEW FISH AND NEW TITLES AND LOOT. Thought i was just here for a one off, in and out 20 min fishing adventure, but now here i am going in every voyage for a few days now!

I’m looking forward to getting that shark mount! The titles you get from ocean fishing are so fun too. “Deadliest Catch.” “Squidzure Dragoon.” My personal favorite, “World-class Troller.”

I got the mount last night, Haven't finished the fishing quests so I thought I was not going to happen. No double hook, just patience I. I am limited because I'm on the Free trial, I am capped at lvl 70, The beast of Brewers Beacon quest won't cooperate. These tips still got me over the top, I waited for spectral to maximize the 520 GP I could max with my gear. Used Patience only on the spectral, managed to get it in twice on each, only got 2 of the 3 mini quest and managed 80% on the final score. Pay attention to the baits and a little luck and it'll happen. after about 10 trips of just under the 10k mark, I got lucky, got 4 or 5 high point fish, 80% bonus and ended up with a little over 6k base score, ended up with just over 11k after the tally was done.

Did you eventually get Beast of Brewer's Beacon to cooperate? That and the Feast of Famine quest can be painful, it took me months to finish back when Stormblood was new.

earlier I was ocean fishing and one of the people there said that they had gotten the shark accidentally without trying for it. I hadn't known there was an ocean fishing mount before that.

The chorus of desynth at the end!!!! It’s so wild. I guess it’s still worth desynthing even if the sand is super cheap?

Yeah, absolutely because Sand does fluctuate and you do need it for housing items for making mortar and the walls. Unless you’re just totally don’t care, then I just sell everything.

Also, there is a chance that the desynth reward will be more bait instead of the sand.@@BunBossFFXIV

There are also achievements tied to desynthing an ungodly amount of items which this will inevitably be a boost towards if you care about such things. Also easy challenge log

This is so helpful! My fisher is at 90, but I have only done ocean fishing a couple times, and the first time I lucked into a high score, so I still had no idea what I was doing.

My first completely blind run of ocean fishing I got 7700 points. Every run I've done since has gotten worse to the point where I got less than 4k. I haven't been double hooking. Can't remember if I have triple or not. But hopefully I can at least get the 8k and be done.

I'm glad they gave people an incentive to do this. I finally got my shark mount. Only took two voyages to get 10k points.

I notice your missing some skills for fisher in your cross hotbar. Are you gonna make a controller setup fishermans guide? Love your vids and i recommend them to all my controller buddies. Keep up the good work.

ahh I rarely fish anymore, but all the abilities are specific to different content, so I move them around actually like if I am ocean fishing to doing spear fishing to do regular fishing, I guess I could come up with something but its take me a minute to get reacquainted. Ill definitely put this in my controller setups for dawntrail!

I absolutely swear by Lulu's Ocean Fishing Tools. Often use it to call out baits for folks during runs. If you are looking to beat 20K on a run, using Lulu's tools and having a spot of luck will get you there. Also great for coordinating a party to get those Ocean Fishing titles that need a huge amount of X type of fish caught.
