We’re well into winter, which means we’re also deep into cold and flu season. So what better time to make the Penicillin: a bold, smoky, sweet, and spicy cocktail. Garnished with a ginger candy or with something a little bolder. For ingredients you’ll need smoky, Islay scotch such as Laphroaig or Laguvullin. You’ll only use a little but a little goes a long way if it’s smoky enough. Blended scotch, such as Monkey Shoulder or Johnny Walker Black but never red, some 3:1 honey syrup, fresh lemon juice, and some fresh, sliced ginger.

Penicillin Recipe
-2 ounces blended scotch whiskey
-1/4 ounce smoky Islay Scotch
-3/4 ounce 3:1 honey syrup
-3/4 ounce lemon juice
-5-6 ginger slices
-garnish: ginger candy, lemon slice, or brûléed ginger slice
