Good overview. You forgot to mention the length of the lines indicates what they are. The longest line is a half, then a quarter, eighth, sixteenth. For those who want to have the luxury of decimals but don't want to use the dirty French (but superior in every way) metric system whip out your handy dandy pocket calculator and divide the top number by the bottom number. This is helpful when you are adding up multiple measurements to get a total length. For example 7/16 + 3/4+ 1/8. Remedial algebra is fun and all but .4375 + .750 + .125 is a little bit easier.

You right! Decimals are way easier to work with if you're adding a ton of numbers together. Most of us have construction calculators. (Don't tell anyone)

@@unscriptedwithantonio My lips are sealed as long as you don't tell anyone i use google to convert to metric because I'm too lazy to divide by 25.4.

Great little clip, my nephew was doing a review of a tape, the next shot was him taking the belt clip off the tape, 2funny, at 6:50 you call the width inch and a half, when you measured it earlier it was an inch and 7 16th's, just keeping you on your toes, brother.

That's a great tip. Removing the clip is crucial. No more supers walking away with your tape.

2x4s being an inch and a half is just taken as gospel. They are always 1.5 x 3.5 and perfectly straight. I mean what do you expect the framers to do get another board? Measure the nominal size of the boards they are using? I dunno all of that sounds like the next guy's problem.
