Do we use the latitude scale to plot the distance of the intercept? TIA. I ws waiting for it in the video 😅

You're right. Latitude scale is used to measure all distances, intercept included.

so the vertical scale is used to measure distances along lines that are angled? Isn't there significant cosine error with that because the latitude and longitude scales are not 1:1? Is the error just considered acceptable within reasonable navigational needs?

Hi Jason. Acceptable navigation practice is to use the latitude (vertical scale) closest to the course (may be inclined) to measure distance. Resulting error, in this case, is minimal enough to be disregarded. On the other hand, if the latitude scale used is further away from the course, the error can be noticeable, especially when navigating well away from the equator.

The answer ends up being B in case you don't want to have to look back.

Thank you, Jason. Good catch. Next time, I'll give the answer choice at the end of the video.
