That sounds great. You put that mean growliness in the tone. It's filthy lol.😎

It’s amazing how much there is to playing this the right way as opposed to what I now know was my over simplified version of it.

Very cool simplistic riffs yeah one thing is playing it the other is singing and playing it at the same time it's like a juxtaposition thing I think that's why Dusty sang it LOL it took me quite a while to do both beautiful what a great tune what a great band I'm at ZZ Top at the Fox Theater on the recycler tour Detroit hung out with Dusty and Frank for about a half hour on the tour bus getting a little smoky in there you know what I mean really nice guys rest in peace Dusty
@castleanthrax1833Ай бұрын
I always assumed that Dusty sang it because I assumed he wrote it, but I think you may be correct here. You'd probably need to do a trade-off (and simplify it, or change it) to play it and sing atst.

Super cool. Seeing a show at the Fox theater was always fun, but that sounds really special!

Ive always imagined ZZ Top riffs to be on the difficult side but you've broken it down for us and with a big of practice I can play some zz top too next time I'm at a guitar store. Thanks! By the way, do you have any advice or tips for a new gibson lp studio owner? I recently moved up from an epiphone and though I love the resonance, I get cuts on my index finger if i slide barre chords up and down the neck. The whole fretboard feels like a railroad track. I've put 9s on it. Am I the problem and are all les Paul's supposed to have huge frets?
@olderendirtАй бұрын
It sounds like the fret ends might need filed. Use something like painter's tape along the edge of the neck to protect it and a fine grit emery board or fine sand paper and do a couple swipes on the end of the frets. Hope that helps.
@smollandeАй бұрын
@@olderendirt thanks! Yes the fret ends are rough. Theres also a lot of bumpness when I move up and down the middle of the fretboard. I tried having s lighter touch when fretting but with barre chords once I ease up my finger pressure buzzing happens. The bumpiness cuts my index finger at the spots where it comes into contact with the strings. I know cos the spacing of the cuts look like string spacing

@@smollande So it's more than just the ends of the frets and across the frets themselves since they're cutting across your finger in multiple places, correct? I would take it to someone who is knowledgeable in refretting an instrument. That's beyond my knowledge, but I know it can be done. It's not something you're doing even with finer diameter strings. That shouldn't be happening. Check some videos about the subject. There may even be something here on this channel. Good luck to you.
@smollandeАй бұрын
@@olderendirt thank you. It's the height of the frets that I'm not used to cos with lower frets my fingers touch the fretboard and that can ease some of that pressure I feel. I'll bring it to someone to have a look at.
@olderendirtАй бұрын
@@smollande I think that would be a good idea. They should be able to tell you more. Good luck.
