Hi! Luke here. I use the Sony ZV-E1 camera for all my work: amzn.to/3S7WpAJ I would buy it again in a heartbeat!! Here's why. It has the same sensor as the Sony FX3, FX6 and FX9-$8000 camera (commercial production cameras used in many films,) extremely high ISO range(stellar low-light performance,) dual native ISO, wide 15 stops of dynamic range (bright light and shadows together), AI assisted focusing/tracking, S-Gamut3.Cine/S-Log3 output, 120fps full-res no crop capability(basically a 120fps high speed shutter camera if you know what you're doing), 4:2:2 10-bit codec, gimbal-like extreme dynamic image stabilization, auto-framing/tracking, and so much more. The reason Sony sells it "cheap" compared to their other cameras with the same sensor is because of less heavy-duty in/out ports, no SDI-out, and most importantly no active cooling system(only passive). No Active Cooling really makes it unusable for commercial users UNLESS (you film only in cool/cold environments) OR.... you add active cooling yourself and then is is absolutely far-and-away the best video camera on the market bang-for-your-buck, it's not really even debatable! This camera has many new features that none of the other cameras that have the same sensor have. My active cooling I use is a cheap Peltier chip & fan combo cooling device I bought off of amazon: amzn.to/3W7tJt7 that easily snaps on and cools the camera no problem :-) This takes my setup from being a Vlogger camera for short burst recordings in hot weather to a camera that can record for hours in direct sun 100F+degree weather. I even tested it in a controlled heating chamber up to 115F degrees for a full day to see how hot I could run it and for how long at the different frame rates and settings. Sometime I'd like to make some vids on the gear I use. If you all think this is a great idea, thumbs up this comment. Thanks! : -)

😊👍 FYI, our video that's releasing this evening was filmed in almost dark conditions so I had to put it through some denoising in post-processing. That's why it looks a little soft. It's amazing for being filmed at ISO 12,800 with a f2.8 lens. I want to try to get a f 1.8 lens or faster and see what it looks like - should cut down on the noise significantly.

Noone ever talks about how to prune more confusing growth patterns such as when the main stem splits into 2 or more branches and its not obvious which one is a sucker and which is the main stem. Also when you get too busy and suddenly you notice a huge sucker with buds on it. Should you still prune it at that point?
@GardeningHomesteadingWoodwork6 ай бұрын
Good questions, it's usually never hard to tell if it's a sucker or a natural Y, sucker always come from a leaf crotch and a Y doesn't. If you miss a sucker and it ends up with blossoms just pinch out the growing tip and remove suckers that will come at each leaf branch.

QUESTION: I'm a brand new gardener. Can I put dead squash & cucumber leaves that have leaf miner trails on them in my compost pile. I know some things that have disease shouldn't be put in the pile but I wasn't sure about these... Thanks!!

Frankly I don't prune suckers unless I want to control the size of the plant. I have a question: is good or bad to prune ALL the suckers when trying for a monster fruit? I pruned a lot on my Westerlund to get the 2lb fruit but I don't think I got em all. 🤔
@GardeningHomesteadingWoodwork6 ай бұрын
Generally speaking we usually remove all suckers and growing tips after the plant reaches the size we think is sufficient to bring the blossom to full potential,if you have a huge mega then you'll want more plant,if smaller blossom you'll want smaller plant.

Do you plant the tomatoes in the same place each year? I've heard you have to rotate crops.
@GardeningHomesteadingWoodwork6 ай бұрын
Yes, same place every year. That's how nature does it. Rotating crops is necessary for poor soil conditions and commercial ag where the soil pretty much serves as a growing medium to hold the plants upright! 🫣

My tomato plants are showing leaf curl . The leafs are in good condition otherwise. The leaves are even curled in the morning after a rain. (Less but still apparent) . I have drip irrigation so im somewhat confident its not related to water. I made new raised beds for them this year and im thinking i may have made a mistake. The beds are only 2' wide and are 16" tall, I used barn metal for the sides. Im thinking my soil may be too hot. (82° at 12" deep). Could that be my issue.
@GardeningHomesteadingWoodwork6 ай бұрын
Are they curling up or down?
@steelersmc6 ай бұрын
Up
@GardeningHomesteadingWoodwork6 ай бұрын
If the plant looks healthy otherwise I wouldn't worry about it all as it's usually a sign of plenty of nutrients in the soil as my plants always have curled leaves,so if I can grow more world record tomatoes than anyone I don't think you need to worry about it! 🤣
@GardeningHomesteadingWoodwork6 ай бұрын
High soil temp is definitely something you want to reduce just for the overall health of the plant.
@steelersmc6 ай бұрын
I kind of thought leaf curl wasn't the end of the tomato being they seem to be growing well and setting plenty of fruit. My only real trouble seems to be blossom end rot. It's bad this year. Nearly all of my early fruit had it. I even used about 1 gallon of wood ash per 20' row.
@acarter92776 ай бұрын
I have another question: suppose you are growing a variety that can get 1lb +, or even 2lb + but you get a fruit that weighs say 10-12 oz. Is it not a good idea to save seed from a runted fruit? Can 'runt' genes carry, even if its weather stress that causes the runts?
@GardeningHomesteadingWoodwork6 ай бұрын
Yes the seed still has the same genes as if it came from a bigger fruit as ar as I know but I'm not a geneticist,I always save seed from my largest fruit but that doesn't mean that the next generation will produce anything of the same size.
