once you master this pay attention the the trajectory of the ball from the catch point to the set point to the release point. you want it to be straighter and you dont want the ball going backwards much IF AT ALL, energy of the ball goes up and forward as well as the energy of your body on a jumpshot, up and forward. these subtle details will make you shoot lights out like steph

I think this tip is just for shooting a free throw..as a kid i used to look for the seams and locate the part of the ball where i can shoot comfortably but it would take too much time and the defense rotates..so growing up i had to learn to catch and shoot without finding the seams etc...

I’ve been shooting for so long with my fingers super spread. And forcing my ring and pinky fingers downward on my release to make sure the ball was coming off on my index and middle fingers. It puts a lot of pressure on my joints in my hand tho so I will try to relax my grip and that pocket as you stated
