And different armor too. Like LPC, full on EOTV etc.

Shoot in it. One thing is if you don't you won't know what to do when you do. Secondly all bodies are different the way your plate carrier sits on you how you're comfortable in it will dictate weapon placement, alot of guys ended up in a 45⁰ cant or doing a lot of the centerline placement as shown giving them stock on plate contact

Lots of variables. Plate carrier type, plate cut (shooters vs swimmers cut), body type/shape. Definitely would be great to see a breakdown though

Around 6:20, the pec or near centerline placement is what I was taught... for the precise reasons as shown in this video. WELL DONE sir. I never see anyone else explain this propperly like you and I do. I am tall with a long neck. I bought an extra high RISER for my RDS. Going to try that with a chin weld. See how it goes.
@MellowFellowOfYellow Жыл бұрын
I keep mine pretty high because there’s a balance between recoil management and good posture to be able to move and shoot easily. I find the second to be generally more important at the distances that matter

Over the last year I’ve gotten really into SBRs, more specifically MP5/ SP5’s. I learned option 3 running those platforms. In my opinion, having the stock near centered and high on the chest for me is the easiest way to shoot and soak up recoil. That is the standard way to shoot an MP5. I’m Glad it’s working its way into AR’s because for CQB that is the best positioning in my opinion.

I was told once that one occasion to bring the butt stock in closer to the centerline is when wearing armor (plates) to avoid the mess of straps etc. in the shoulder. Is this true or does it not hold merit?
@cameronnovy3718 Жыл бұрын
I don’t have any experience with a plate carrier, but I have shouldered while wearing backpacks with different strap types. For me the straps have never really been an issue, and personally anything other than the high shouldering is quite uncomfortable. As for the plate carrier question, I would imagine you would need it to be slick where you’d be placing the stock and I’d imagine most people don’t run slick plate carriers.
@ThereIsNoSpoon4 Жыл бұрын
It depends a lot on the type of carrier/straps you're running. Most JPC's have eliminated the annoying shoulder strap problem.
@jw5297 Жыл бұрын
As said it truly depends on the carrier and how you wear it. Not everyone springs for JPC, so yes a lot of guys do end up rolling more centerline to give themselves a more comfortable consistent placement, others end up at a cant to roll to the side of the straps. Think about if you watch a long time operator gesture holding a rifle, see how their hands fall, that is a natural position given they've spent so much time operating in that position. If you own a plate carrier put it on and train in it, if you do and don't train in it, don't put it on, it will throw you all out of whack.

I had a serious habit of bringing my head down to my weapon when I was in the military which affected my scoring, when I got out I could shoot using positions that were comfortable for me instead of protocol, and my shooting improved significantly especially since I do have a long neck and a tall build so I am very accurate with the stock high up in my shoulder pocket plus I don't need to bring my head down to the weapon at all or cant my neck. Now for close-quarters it's usually left center of my plate carrier sitting on my plate and I'm usually not even looking down the sight I'm looking above it, while also using a much shorter platform then a 20in M-16 A4 clone, I do perfectly fine with the 16 in. but I prefer only using that for close-quarters. This is for obvious reasons. I would really like to go shorter but the paperwork to me is not worth it.

Question for everyone been trying to get my wife into AR's any advice for stock placement for the bigger breast women? I'm serious lol I'm a vet but realized I didn't know how to place it on the misses.
@boygonewhoopdataZZ Жыл бұрын
Most women naturally have the hi speed gangster CQB lean that all the Instagram dudes like. If you missus does this just tell her to bring her rear leg back and if her quads are burning she's doing it right
@NiMi93 Жыл бұрын
I'm a dude and can't say much to this, but I would think having a brace/stock with a larger surface area would reduce the recoil pounds-per-square-inch from digging into her chest with every shot
@jw5297 Жыл бұрын
Personally I have a preference to the Daniel defense furniture, one of the plates that ships with it has a large curvature, and I have found that makes a more comfortable fitment to my bride and given the recoil of the AR15 being so little and I throw in H1 buffers to mitigate it that much more I have her bring the weapon to her eyeline and she comes in high on her chest with very little movement of her head and neck But we only run RDS on our AR15s so which allows more flexibility there.

I mean if you shoot better with the stock in your shoulder if I was shooting for my life I’d Atleast try to get the most connection to the gun as I can and practice that way.
@thenathanr4243 Жыл бұрын
It might make you shoot 'better', but at a speed cost. if you are 1.5 seconds slower, but shoot 1.5 MOA instead of 2MOA, that might be 'better', but not really. Sometimes accuracy is more important, and sometimes those fractions of a second matter more. Train both.

Growing up behind a rifle since i was like 6 yrs old this seems like ppl watching this just need to be told what to do..in real life you practice what feels right...typically what feels right and works is the best way to do things...not what someone else does or tells you to do

Gun Stores and ranges, simply asserting 2A rights is not a great strategy. quit marketing "fun" and "machismo." start proving to the world you're training safety and self defense. We normal everyday citizens need to be able to protest the closure of self defense and training. We are the militia and we need you more than ever.
