I mean honestly, most times the police and courts will find something illegal so you might as well just go full SBR and just try not to get caught. One thing to keep in mind is to have your tags on your car up to date and to make sure all your lights work cuz that eliminates interactions with Road Pirates.

I'm also on social security and I have to work with what little income I get but I am also a professional bladesmith and blacksmith by trade and I have my own shop so I can make a little bit under the table but the point I was going to make is you can build your own AR's fairly cheap if you learn what to do. I watch for deals on 80% lowers since they can be mailed right to my house and I don't have to register them or anything and I've gotten really good at milling them out with just the basic tools I have on hand. It's really easy to do once you get into it. Then go and watch for the sales and deals on uppers and the lower parts kits and I promise you that you can build a very nice good running AR for less than $350. I just built one a couple weeks ago that I only have about $280 in and it's really awesome if I say so myself. So don't feel like you can't get one because you can. Go check out 80% lowers and Bear Creek Arsenal and another really cheap place to get stuff from is Surplus Ammo. Com. They always have deals going on. Watch videos on how to mill out the lowers and get some cheap basic tools together and start piecing it together. Good luck! I hope you can get an AR together soon.

Bravo Zulu shipmate! This man's instruction style is top notch. I am my departmental firearms instructor and I was a SAMI in the Navy (Gunners Mate Guns!). I watched so many instructors come off as absolute cockbags in the way they presented their material and you'd see the students just mentally check out. The most effective instructors are always the ones who get their students to invest themselves into the training.

Good stuff (again) Coch & TH. In my own self-education about “ARs”, features, options and the multitude of accessories available, I found it easy to over-think things. I kept coming back to: what is a practical, reasonable use of this platform for me (civilian, self/home defense and target shooting). I saved myself tons of money by sticking to practical and not trying to be tacti-cool. Always appreciate the tips and info Coch.

It's not hard to remove a P&W muzzle device, especially if you don't want to reuse the one that's on there. Takes me only about 5min, and most of that is setup. Welding a new on one takes no time at all if you have a welder, or about 10min if you need to silver solder it in place.

The squared off stance also puts whatever body armor you might have into play where the bladed stance exposes an unprotected section on most vests. The church shooter in Texas was shot in the side by the barefoot vet with his AR and that stopped the slaughter and contributed to the shooter's demise. I love Coch! Teaches functional, applicable subjects regardless of if they are tacticool or approved by wannabe KZbin operators. I am former Army and can look back at so much of what he says and either confirm it works or know the alternative doesn't for real work gun handling. For example the super forward hold on the forgrip. You'll never see someone doing that seriously outside of a range unless they are fresh out of training or only handling a weapon for brief periods. No one wants to hold a rifle like that for 5 minutes let alone for HOURS. Don't believe me? Practice in your own living room.

Consider red dot offset at 1:30 to keep cheek to weld as you roll the rifle over. This way you keep the cheek to the weld for scope and red dot use as you flip back and forth. Imagine keeping your scope powered and you sweep with the red dot and roll to magnification once you find the target.

That sling work was a mind opener. I'm not in the defense line of work, I'm a construction guy and have been for 32 years. I just got off an outage of 6 91 hour weeks. I just want what I work for to stay with me and my family. I think slings are often bought but not worked with in theory or practice. What you just did right there was really interesting to me. I have quick connector sling attachments and I'm seriously 2nd guessing that route. Your ability to adjust according to the situation shows a huge need to be able to adjust. If, God forbid, I ever have to defend my home and I'm checking pulses, I want to be able to adjust my rifle or pcc depending what I'm grabbing that night. I'm getting ready to set my oldest son up with his 1st rifle and I'll get him on this video to consider sling options. I could just hand him the gun but figured he'd get more out of it if he's part of the process and I like my kids, the time spent will be great too. Thanks for the information!

Excellent discussion as context is key when discussing rifle set up. I keep a jack of all trades rifle almost like that except I utilize a1-4 lpvo up top due to crappy long range vision. I've recently watched some of the young bucks running around gun tube, and some of them can shoot very well, but they don't have any real world context outside of massive range time. Reality is different. I thought the points on hand placement were an excellent example of why things are done, and certain equipment exists.

Got an H&R M16A1 clone like I carried in 1st Ranger Battalion, fixed carry handle iron sights, it just works. Save the money and spend it on ammo and train.

Squared up stance, interesting. Never really knew that before but it makes sense. I don't shoot much but when I was taught by my dad (12 years old) and In Boy Scouts, we always used a side stance to shoot. Unless prone.

Good lookin fde lightweight rifle. I thought about switching my Mk12 lower over to a KP15 to save a half LB or so. Those lowers have pretty much proven themselves to be 100% reliable, too. Thanks for the upload

Very cool. I just found you. I know this is an older video.. I used to teach shooting.. I worked at the largest firearms shop in the state of Indiana at one time and I would compete with rifles and pistols.. Mostly the later. I then started working in the IT field and got away from shooting as much and now retiring I'm going to buy an AR for an all around rifle. It will be just like that.. A light and a prism scope.. Nothing more nothing less and will also be a 16" barrel with a folding stock because my girl might use it for the home defense role and she can shoot pretty good, especially with a 45 acp pistol.. Great video, and I subscribed.. Thanks so much man. Regards from south central Indiana. USA (The heartland ) Tim

Gotta love Coch..he's not shilling for big buck companies or brow beating the average gun owner! He's a tool in the tool kit kind of guy and since the vast majority of people will never face URBAN COMBAT or be on a battle field , he provides practical use tips and info on products that work for the 99% of us..

Depending on who visits you at night or day at your home I like to have mags loaded with frangible ammo if visitors have no body armour. Won't go through walls and won't even exit the target. All energy is immediately dispersed within first couple of inches and wound trail is devastating and long enough to reach vitals without exiting.
