I can only lament the fact that I didn't know Victoria when I first started singing. She would have saved me so much time and prevented years of struggling. Thankful that she's available now and always has a great tip or two... or twenty! To humbly add just a little something to this video, I find another benefit from the step two storytelling portion to be that it helps me remember the lyrics to a song with multiple verses. I used to sometimes accidentally jumble the second verse for the first, third for the second, etc. Internalizing the song's story actually provides an easier framework to memorize lyrics than just a verse number in my case at least. Good luck to all on your vocal and musical journeys!

Thanks so much. For me, doing the exercises just for a few minutes during the day is building up strength so when I want to sing a song it's easier. I've had so many voice related issues for years now, but little by little it seems to be coming back. Your videos are very helpful. Thanks.

I learn my songs in this order: listen to the song, open my heart to receive the song, then lip synch along with the lyrics, then whisper along with the Lyrics, then sing along flatly. To memorize the lyrics, I learn the song paragraph by paragraph. Next, technical mode: Learn the meaning (story)of the song. Act it out dramatically. I learn the hardest part of the song first, then yoke the rest; piecing it together from that point backwards and forwards.. From the top, I sing it as many times as I can, exhaustively: until I'm altogether tired of the song. Then leave it for a day or two. When I hear the song screaming in my head again, I'm ready to "perform" it. Performance mode: I sing a capella outside. I perform like I'm playing a bunch of invisible theramins. My hands wave and spiral and gesture automatically while I sing. I bend and sway and slowly spin throughout the performance (also automatically) . I put my whole body into it. It's like releasing the magic. Sometimes I use my special devices for flair or amplification or enhancement 😉IYKYK

I had a "performance" the other day that was quite magical. I was dressed nice walking with a homeless guy I know down the main street downtown singing "Ease on Down the Road" from The Wiz. I had my magic wand and was in a full performance mode, waving it like I was controlling him with it. He was really going with the motions! It was so perfect it looked rehearsed, but it was completely spontaneous! The people were enjoying it so much. Everyone was just beaming! Even the guy started glowing! We made our exit to continue on our way, but those couple minutes were pure magic. And wouldn't ever have been possible without you. 🧙🏾‍♂️ 🪄✨️🎶 💖🥰

Good day! I've been watching your videos for a while especially now that I'm challenging myself to sing Hellfire for the coming theater classes. Unfortunately, I've been stuggling to reach high notes without using falsetto or my voice straining. It honestly sounds like I shouldn't even get started with Hellfire. 😅

Hello Victoria, I'm considering singing a song at my school's cultural event, but I'm not confident in my singing abilities. I've watched several of your singing lesson videos, and practiced and I believe having someone like you to provide guidance and correct my mistakes would be invaluable. Would you be willing to assist me with this endeavor?

As stated on my website, my private studio is full and I am not adding to the wait list. Your other options are: 1. participating in my group classes for members of my audio exercise training program www.healthyvocaltechnique.com/group-classes/ (need to become a VVVEP member first (www.healthyvocaltechnique.com/order-victorias-victorious-vocal-exercise-program/) 2. submitting a video for evaluation: www.healthyvocaltechnique.com/product/video-review-of-your-singing/ 3. Of course, you should be subscribed to my KZbin channel where I post valuable info seldom found online and certainly not for free! kzbin.info Make sure that you are on my mailing list to be informed of future opportunities. The easiest way to get on the list is to get my 2 free e-books: www.healthyvocaltechnique.com/victorias-victorious-e-books/

How can I train my ear? I always have problems with hitting the right notes, especially when the song gets fast. I can sing along to the melody just fine but when it's just me and the instrumental, I fall apart
@Victoria-Victorious
@Victoria-Victorious 8 ай бұрын
Make sure that you study the recording at a slower speed, then sing along at slower speed, then record yourself. Do this before going to karaoke track. Then study (listen) to the karaoke carefully before singing along. Record yourself so you can hear where you are going off.

If I may add, I personally found it much easier to learn a new melody by playing it on the piano first, because the piano is more "neutral".

Hey Victoria! In your breath support videos you talked about blowing up a balloon, could you please clarify something for me? When applying this to singing are we talking about trying to feel the same level of resistance in our abdominals when we sing or are we applying the same level of breath "under" the voice when we sing? I'm just a little confused because studies of the voice talk about not moving a candle or paper when singing, if we're talking about applying the same resistance you feel when blowing a balloon to singing then I think I get it, otherwise I feel like I'm blowing air. After watching all of your videos I'm so much closer to understanding and feeling breath support, but I'm clearly still not getting it. Thanks a lot, I'm getting your course as soon as I am able to!

I give several examples in the video from blowing a feather to the thick balloon. It all depends on what you are singing. I discuss that in other videos. You can start here: Supporting the Voice (Breath Support) - WHY, WHEN, HOW MUCH? kzbin.info/www/bejne/mGOafnmnZstjjK8

What if you want to lower the key but by lowering the key then it becomes too low rather than too high. Does that just mean it covers too much range?
@Victoria-Victorious
@Victoria-Victorious 7 ай бұрын
Yes, this does happen! 😊 You have to decide which is more important in the song - the high notes or the low notes. Is it okay to sacrifice one (maybe the low note) to make the other better (the high note(s). It also depends on how many notes are affected. If it is a lot of notes, it may not be the right song for you at this time.
