A lot of surfers are told by coaches to drop their back knee into a specific surf stance. It looks really cool and good. But is it good for you? I don’t think so. Some surfers have a more flexibility and are built differently to others, so everyone will have a different style. If you want to have a style with a dropped knee it is more about technique than anything else. In this tutorial I explain the importance of how to open up the front foot at a 45 degree angle which will then allow for a more natural style with a dropped back knee.
