I think that Steve's out of place art style is much more appealing than dramatically redesigning him to give him more fluid animations just for Smash. It helps him stand out a lot more in comparison to other fighters, and given that Minecraft is so different from most of the other franchises represented by playable fighters, it only fits that Steve would be just as different.

I love all of the teeny tiny little details that they added to keep Steve as authentic as they could be! Adding the appropriate sounds when falling from a high place, eating, and climbing a ladder are a nice touch, and giving him a bed while sleeping is hilarious. I feel like giving him custom damage animations would feel out of place, and seeing him (not) react to being attacked as he would in Minecraft is so dang funny to see. That being said, missed opportunity to make his Stamina Mode KO have him vanish into a puff of smoke and drop his inventory and Experience Orbs, lol.

I love how Steve might be the only smash fighter that was not turned into a character and rather remains just a player avatar. For explanation when I say turned into a character, I mean given their own personality. Despite his name, his rendition in this game isn’t as “Steve”. Rather, it’s as a representation of Minecraft’s players and community as a whole. He doesn’t react like a character in a game world. He reacts like a near-blank avatar being controlled by a player.

One thing that they could've done when Steve dies in stamina matches is that he drops his inventory. It'd just be for a cosmetic effect since he doesn't actually lose any of his materials when he dies, but it still would've been a neat touch

With Wario grab and such, I don’t think it was a glitch, probably intentional so that Steve’s head wouldn’t clip through the net/ wario’s mouth

Yes the head shrinking is intentional but the fact that you can clip though their body and see the misshapen head is sort of a glitch. It's more of an oversight than a glitch but if you think about it aren't all glitches just oversights by the developers?
