The only thing I'm glad about is how minimal his arsenal is. Yes, he has access to: - Minecarts - Anvils - A crafting table - TNT - Diamond Materials However, think for a moment how much more he could have had: - A brewing stand - Healing potions - Splash potion of slowness - Lingering potion of poison - Bow & Arrow - Chest - Dispenser - Ender Pearl - Spawn Eggs - Armor (and armor stands) All I'm saying is that I'm thankful Steve is only given the tools he has in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The competitive Smash Ultimate community would be more doomed than it already is if Steve was given any of the resources in the second list.

More terrible Steve additions: - Nether Portal (extra dimension for every stage, or maybe one shared for all, also implies netherite which has KNOCKBACK REDUCTION!) - The Wither - Axe crits (disabling shield & mega damage) - Enchantment Table (essentially like equipping random spirits) - Totem of Undying (not really a move, but still busted. Maybe a new item that heals % when you get hit with a high % attack) - Snow Golem (cute) - Beacon (huge flex if you're winning, but requires you to kill the Wither, and be rich) - Doors (look up door pvp, it would actually be busted) - cobweb (almost insane, but soft countered by all the sword characters. annoying regardless) - Sniffer (scary) - Warden (silly) - tall grass/fern (😳) - functional sponge (Squirtle and inkling can cry about it) - Enchanted Golden Apple (yummy!) - Arrow of Levitation (one hit K/O) - Removed Herobrine

Steve wasnt changed to fit for smash bros… Smash bros was changed to fit Steve. Steve can do anything, cancel hitstun, platform camp… ON A STAGE WITH NO PLATFORMS, Steve can just float in the air sometimes, jab combos into a million more jabs that you can just walk while jabbing and then spike with a forward air to kill your opponents at 0, brawl meta knight up air, forward smash being the fastest in the game (the gold version to be specific), a command grab… but wait, THERES MORE. Sick video! But the tournaments who have unbanned Steve are not due to community perception of the character, rather it has to do with Nintendo's new guidelines on running tournaments. The official guidelines (which must be followed or get sued by Nintendo) say you cannot ban characters, or add any mods to the game. If you watch Melee @ GOML this year, there Pokémon Stadium is no longer frozen for this reason. It's unfortunate and takes control away from the community.

Sonic is just as detrimental to the health of the competitive scene as Steve is, so if someone wants Steve banned because of that, then it should be done in tandem with a Sonic ban, except TOs don't want to do that so as far as I'm concerned, the ban discussion is completely off the table. Coming from an avid DBFZ player (at least before patches turned it into M.U.G.E.N.), a lot of the Steve detractors truly have no idea the kind of degeneracy and over centralization that comes with _genuine_ meta killers. Also Sonic is Top 1.
