And if you are making it so that you can keep it extended without holding it. Use the black pins because the grey ones allow for more turning and collapse easy. I recommend the black pins because they are better for connecting!! Love the videos!!

Yeah, the black and blue pins have little extra bumps on them that add friction for connecting things that shouldn't move easily. The grey and tan ones are smoother and great for rotating stuff
@puggysmall3136
@puggysmall3136 Жыл бұрын
That’s the same for the pins where one side is the circle looking one and the other it’s the x shaped one, the beige ones collapse easier than the blue ones

Black = more friction (better for connecting) Grey = Less friction (better for smooth turning)

The thing I love about your builds is how sturdy they are. In every video you don’t abuse your builds, but it’s not like you are gentle either.

A classic scissor lift! I took part in VEX robotics in high school and it was a fun challenge, although my team and I never finished one from time constraints for competitions

Fun fact, the black pins are harder to spin while the grey ones are more loose, making it easier to spin. Everyone already probably knew that, but i still wanted to say something.

Sometimes you also want a mix of both. Depending on the friction you need. Also I feel like the pins with axle hole (3L with 2L pin side) have even more friction, especially when fixed with an axle.

I’m in First Lego League (Lego robotics) and I’m just mentioning that you really shouldn’t use the black pins in this situation. Black pins have large friction ridges, and are used to hold pieces together, grey pieces have no friction and are designed specifically for moving or rotating parts.
@duncathan_salt
@duncathan_salt 7 ай бұрын
Notice the black pins are used in the actual build, because the additional friction makes them better suited for staying in place while extended. There are merits to both.

Use the grey ones because their diameter is slightly less than the black ones, meaning they have less friction and the mechanism will move more freely
@duncathan_salt

Both have their merits! Notice that the big brick itself uses the black pins, because the additional friction makes them better suited for staying in place when extended.

I’ve made a ton of these before and I love these mechanisms. The only suggestion I have is using 3 technic bricks to build it up and use pins that are 3 studs long. It takes more parts but makes it all the more sturdy. Either way, I like it though!
