Jimin Kim! I cannot agree with you at all! Neither does the girl seem super nervous nor is there anything casual about Vengerov's involvement. Yes, he takes a sip of tea at the beinning, then never again. He is totally captured by the pure beauty of the girl's depth and breadth of musicality and is almost speechless at the end. Then, of course, teaches her..... What a wonderful session! Thank you, Uni Mozarteum Salzburg, for posting this.

Accompanying is a fine art. I hate the trend to blanket call it ‘pianist’ as if to be an ‘accompanist’ is an insult. Worse still is the Americanism “collaborative pianist” as if it needed clarification... one should also add the qualifier “collaborative” to the violinist too in that case. I hate the race to the bottom on social media and the obsession with semantics and the irresistible urge in taking offence when it is not meant.

That girl plays so well Wieniasky! Not only does this composer write very difficult pieces from a technical way, but it is so hard to focus through all the piece and keep the characters that the piece requires. She does this and with a beautiful tone, as if she was singing every moment. Bravíssima!!!

I like it, that Mister Vengerov is waiting with his Komments untill the Violinist is finish. So she can play without to be too disturbed and geht nervous. Wonderful piece and a very good violinist. Thank you very much.

I'd like to give a couple of more thumbs up pls. Great student, able to adapt so quickly and with a great natural sound. As soon as she will be relaxter (playing in this situation surely does not help there) she will have a even better sound. Vengerovs bow control is amazing as always. When he uses the bow it looks just half the size of what it actually is. When he throws the bow into the string he has a perfect landingno matter how wild he swings and the harsh sound is just due to quick acceleration after having perfect contract and so he produces a harsh sound with the note already ringing, a great part of why he always sounds that good. Amazing! I wish I were able to do that.

I noticed her right elbow dropped at the tip when first playing on the G string. After his instruction and demonstration the elbow stayed up at the tip. I don't think he said to do that, but something in his words told her to do it. Then back to the old habit on the A string until he coaches back the phrasing. Nice work.

He can change Ms Handler from a really good violinist to a great one. I doubt Mr Vengerov would have much patience for someone not close to his level of playing. But he exemplifies the ideal teacher in his total empathy for this student. A wonderful post.
