Man! That just reinforced my desire to learn the instrument! Makes me wish my cousin lived closer to me! (He is pretty much the musical talent pinnacle on my mother's side of the family. Trust me. You know him, or of him. I don't think it was that long ago he last performed at the Kennedy Center. We have a lot of musical talent on Dad's side also, just not quite what Allan achieved. He probably doesn't play the cello - which would make it about the only thing he didn't - but he could at least teach me music beyond guitar chord sheet music. lol) I took interest in this instrument because the wrist fractures of my left wrist (multiple impact fractures and radial fractures, plate put in and later removed due to encroachment, repaired tendon at the 5th finger, carpal repair, cubital repair, thorasic outlet condition) reduced my range of motion making the instrument I've always loved hearing also one of the few I might be able to play. I was hypermobile in that joint, which helped me with guitar, but the reduced range I have now made returning to that instrument near impossible, left or right handed. (I've...... had a lot of concussions. I keep swapping which hand I do things with. Fortunately I started out ambidextrous so I can usually do things with both hands, but it does get.... disturbing and distracting.) I began looking for ways to learn the cello once I decided that I wanted to return to learning music. Not an easy thing to do apparently. That was 3 years ago. I'm still waiting to see if any affordable ways present themselves. Ha! Actually, my body decided to go the long way around, but the desire is there and to me that means something. I know you won't actually read this. That isn't the important thing. I just needed to put my desire to learn music out there, if that makes sense. I always felt life conspired to keep me out of music, just as it has a lot of things, but inside I still have a musical part that lacks a way to express itself and maybe things will work out this time. So thank you so much for doing these videos! I look forward to watching more!

Hi Aj, I hope you find a way to get a cello and some cello lessons. Check out your local conservatory, there are many musicians who need the work now and you might get a good deal. And also, What is Alan’s last name? 😀

@@Inbalsegevcello First let me apologize for being assumptive. It's rare anyone reads their YT comments let alone responds to them, but I've let that make me cynical in respect to it. My health struggle hasn't helped that any and I'm embarrassed to admit I've allowed that to happen. No good excuse exists for that. My apologies. As to my cousin, his last name is Lewis. He's lead a busy life. The times we got to be family were too few and far between. Especially with the sparsity of that side of the family. We live so far from him (NY verses us in FL) we can't simply visit him to make sure he is doing well. That really bothers me. I'd do it if I could. I even considered finding someone close by who might visit for us, but I decided that would probably be considered invasive unless there was already a reason for them to do so. Mom is turning 90 this year and misses him quite a lot. I chose to express myself artistically and musically through more electronic means so unlike the rest of the family that play and/or sing I didn't have a common ground to really bond with him, but that doesn't mean I don't miss him also. We probably have a lot more in common now more than ever. I wonder if that counts as ironic? I hadn't thought about inquiring at the conservatory! I will look into that. Thank you for suggesting it. And thank you for taking the time to reply to me. I appreciate it.

Thank you. As you mentioned there are a couple of videos about how to practise these studies, but there not much that are played that beautiful. So the fact that it can sound like that (if you practise 25 years 10 hours a day 😂) is motivating by itself and more motivating then the bids that tell how to practise. I think that there are a lot of students out there that could need some motivation to take these out again, so if you don't mind please do some more "How to"-Popper High School! Stay safe 🎵

Do you meditate? What is your method of mind-body connection?
@Inbalsegevcello2 жыл бұрын
Hi Will, this is a very timely question, I believe deeply in mind-body connection and I just started listening to the "Manifestation babe", might not be for everyone, but I find her tips to be very good and straight forward. Otherwise, my only form of meditation is practicing. I used to do Yoga in stressful times, and have a video about sound production where I talk about it. Thanks for watching! Inbal

Are you playing this staccato or spicatto? It sounds like you are jumping the string sometimes. I have issues playing spicatto fast and sound sloppy
@Inbalsegevcello3 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, I am playing Staccato. If you do it the right way the bow will start bouncing off the string. Check out my Elgar second movement class for tips on that. Thanks for watching!
