Nice job! The fact that you actually made it a castle made the reveal even more satisfying

Didn't know you played Minecraft too, interesting concept to try out. With a single block representing your choice unit of measurement, you can represent the cuts of wood and such pretty easily. Using schematics, you could represent cuts of wood and just duplicate/rotate/position them how you want, then cut out the areas of joints and such. Using a minimap mod with waypoints, like Journeymap, may let you place indicators that you can read from far away instead of using the signs. However, as you said, in the end it's just better to use a design program lol. Good job on the final project!

I build designs in Stormworks for real-world engineering. The proportions don't work for character size, is all. Agreed, scale makes the use awkward, but digital Legos help to visualize problem areas.

If you like cube-based construction and don't want to learn CAD, you might consider MagicaVoxel instead of Minecraft. It's a similar construction style but with easier camera controls than flying in Minecraft, built-in measurement tooltips, batch construction tools like fill, line, circle, the ability to copy/cut/paste, and more. It's actually been used by a few people to make OpenTTD sprites, including Timberwolf's Trains/Road Vehicles/etc. (in 2x extrazoom), and my own Danish Trains (in standard scale). Fun video though, love what you've done with the castle decor!

Heyy man, just a tip if you are ever doing this again, there are two mods for minecraft that can reaaaaaly speed up the process of building, specially things that are realy straight, like the bed frame, they are worldedit and axiom, I personally think they are much more streamlined than the minecraft fill commands And also, it looks sooo cool, your daughter must be so proud of her father, amazing!!!!

Personally, I used Blender 3D to mock up my bed design, which mainly ended up slinging a matress on top of some Ikea cabinets!

Minecraft definitely has its limitations especially on diagonals and stuff. But to make a rough sketch and figured out the overall look of things it's definitely not too bad. If you're fimilar with world edit it's even better.

i feel like this would be even easier with mods like builders wands, vein mine and all that good stuff that castle is very nice :3 i do notice that there isnt a tiny bee greenhouse at the bottom, must have missed it when building :P (joke)

I'm pretty sure if I put bees in her bedroom she would not be happy
