All I can say is WOW!!! Your plants are gorgeous!! I'm glad to hear you talk about the realities of plant care and matching the plant's care with your willingness to do certain things and what you dislike (floor cleanup). That makes caring for plants much more realistic...and in reality...more fun. It feels less obligatory. Loving the long form video BTW. Thanks for sharing your collection.

Thank you so much for all those kind words! I really appreciate it. Actually, I'm probably going to steal some of them for my bio because I've had trouble putting my approach to plant care in the right words. 🤣 Thanks again! 💚💚💚

Morning gorgeous! I have fallen in love with you for just one sentence....I shouldn't get more Alocasias as I don't have enough space 😂 fab! I need your advice badly! Two days ago for my birthday I got Polly and I LOVE them, beautiful leave plants, but I previously successfully killed some of them😢 so I need all the advice I could get.

I also grow my alocasias in self watering pots with very chunky mix of leca, perlite, vermiculite, seramis, pumice, orchid bark and peat moss. They do well like this.

I do use beneficial bugs specifically for spider mites monthly as a preventative in the summer since I live in FL and so far I never had a spider mite problem an I have 18 different Alocasias. For me, it works. The other parts of seasons I just wipe down my leaves when I water all of my plants. Love your information on Alocasias.

Thank you for confirming my suspicion that my Alocasia Tiny Dancer losing a leaf after growing another one was not normal! I didn’t think it was either! All I could think was “how will my plant ever get any bigger or make any progress if that’s the case?”. Turns out she is root bound and has roots coming out the bottom of the pot! I’m hoping this is the reason why she’s unhappy because otherwise I’m stumped. She has 12 hours of bright indirect light and high humidity with constant air flow. This video cleared up so much!

Love that tip about the feather duster! I've had lots of run-ins with bugs and tried all the sprays, but what I've decided is that the most important thing is mechanical removal. I like to spray my plants with the shower hose, to get all the buggies off. I have found that is way more effective than any pesticide...and WAY less work! But I love the feather duster because that means I wouldn't have to even move my plants! ha ha...getting one today

Really happy to run across this video. I picked up a variegated “Lucifer” from Home Depot last week. There were 3 plants in it, HUGE pot. Two are variegated, one of those has reverted but the smallest is all variegated. I’m not a huge Alocasia person and just have a silver dragon that I’ve been battling with. I put the two variegated plants in semi hydro so I’m glad to see you approve. But not before harvesting the 10 corms in the pot:)

Not sure if you mentioned your location, but I know Alocasias are tropical. I live in LA where its very dry and hot desert climate. My Alocasias have 1-4 leaves at the most, and the leaves don't grow very much. I watch a lot of plant content but most people don't mention their location so i'm wondering if you think it makes a difference where your are located. I love your videos!

I never ever had a spider mite problem. I had the occasional thrip, but they never did more than a few silver lines on the leaves and then they were gone again. So yeah, I buy the satchels every 8 weeks and I am super happy with them
