Leaving Vigor at d4 is one of those "are you SURE about that?" decisions.

Accurate. Spirit is one thing, vigor is like... well, you better stay AWAY from combat then. One thing I like about Savage Worlds is there is no true dump stat. If anything, it might be Strength unless you are a melee fighter.

Honestly, for first time players I tell people just go all d6.

Thats a nice well-rounded character. I like it when players keep to d8 and below at initial creation, gives a nice amount of different skills with plenty of room for improvement as you Advance.

As someone once said, in Savage Worlds, characters don't get more powerful as they Advance, they get more interesting. I find that characters should have one thing they are good at least. You can't be good at everything.

about to start my groups first campaign in savage worlds after playing dnd 5e for years! our setting is a high fantasy western gothic adventure in a secluded and mysterious town. i’m gonna be recycling an old scrapped dnd character, a morally dubious “doctor” with a questionable past and even more questionable cures. so excited to give the game a try! thank you for this overview!!

Can you cover adventure and encounter creation? Do you generate things on the fly using random tables? Pre-planned encounters? What's your preference with Savage Worlds?
