This was an eloquently written script. GM Lee, you did an excellent job with demonstrating how Jack and his character animated beyond the page, creating a massively engaging character and script to do so. I can't wait to see Jack continue on his quests for honor!

One note regarding Hindrances - you can take twelve Hindrances if you want; the limit is only on points to spend during character creation. More hindrances can help flesh out the character more, and can also give you more opportunities to earn Bennies during play.
@GameMasterLee Жыл бұрын
Actually you’re limited to 4 points in Hindrances per the rules - page 9 of the SWADE core rules: “…up to 4 points of Hindrances.”

This was incredibly useful. Thank you. I'm looking to run an urban fantasy setting in the style of the old Urban Arcana that d20 Modern introduced back when I first started playing TTRPGs, and it looks like this would be the best system for it, even just using the base rules.

Great video! What I find the most difficult with the character creation is the sheer amount of edges and hindrances, and some are very similar to each other. If I have a character in mind, and start reading from the start, I might pick something that is kind of right, and actually miss a better edge that's further back. When creating your first character there is a lot of reading involved when you come to that part. I imagine I will be getting quicker as I slowly remember what edges and hindrances there are, hehe.
@GameMasterLee Жыл бұрын
I agree - my first ever character I’d write completely different now. But that’s the fun part of the number of Edges and Hindrances is your ability to to make a character that’s unique and exactly what you want. And hey, get that better Edge with your next Advance!

One thing my group does is, your character is never really locked in. If you start with a character and after the session you can make alterations up to and including starting over. Once you've made a character you enjoy we allow modifications between sessions so if you took an edge you don't quite like you're allowed to change it. This comes with the caviat that you need GM approval and you can't just keep showing up with completely different characters every session.

Am I correct that Jack would get a free edge because he is human? You swapped two edges for attributes but didn't pick the 3rd edge. Nevermind. At the end I saw the woodsman edge

If I understand correctly, you can spend four Hindrance points in starting funds, and each adds 200%. So the first point triples starting funds, and each additional adds the same amount.
@GameMasterLee Жыл бұрын
No, per the rules on page 9, for 1 point you can gain starting funds equal to twice the starting amount. So $500 becomes $1,000. If you were to do this multiple times, you’d still only be adding to the starting funds, not the new total created by previously spent Hindrance points.
@Havasi91 Жыл бұрын
@@GameMasterLee This is tricky wording. It says "you gain ADDITIONAL starting funds equal to twice your setting's starting amount". I would interpret that as each point adds 2xStarting. So if starting is 500$, each Hindrance Point would add 1000$. So spending 1 point would make your starting total 1500$, 2 points 2500$, and so forth.
