Which of the 4-paths mentioned today are you on? Which one best suits you? -Minimalist approach; Natural Seawater approach; Improving on NSW; or Trust Fall.

I’m ready to go with a minimalist approach, I been using actual natural seawater for 3 years now and I’m getting tire of going to the inlet on high tides to collect the water 🤦🏻‍♂️. Witch is the better salt at a lower cost? I seen the salt videos but I get lost on all the information.

Where is the neglect category. I have a small tank that gets the minimalist approach as it has very little livestock. Waiting on my larger tank and plan to use NSW / Trust fall.

Another excellent video. It's interesting that we are chasing Natural Seawater (NSW) parameters but that we keep using RODI and salts. Can you do a video on using NSW or part NSW and part RODI/salt mixes? Thanks from Gold Coast Australia

I've binge watch the 5 minute guide series, up to date on the 360 and start watch 52 weeks of reefing series. You have me sold! I want to add a reef tank to my freshwater collection you have made it sound so much easier than other sources. Information is king, thank you!

Having been in the Reefer hobby for many years (BS Marine Biology 1975) I have found this presentation more then just helpful. It is filled with sound advice and practical solutions for some of the many problems that are encountered by Reefer enthusiasts. Thank you for an excellent presentation and very digestible information and guidance, especially the interplay of water chemistry, trace elements, and the all important amino acids. Highly recommended for the beginner right through to the advanced aquarist. I'd like to see an equally thorough video on the importance of correct spectrum lighting. Thanks!

All good points. But, actually, I can look at my animals and plants and see if they're missing vitamins and minerals. Decades of farming and many thousands of animals (pigs, sheep, chickens) result in an eye for this. Experience. May we all get to that point. Until then... Test and supplement! :)

I wish BRS made a video about personal situation and reefing. E.g. with a limited budget and kids, I am enjoying my 20 gallon easy softcoral/lps tank much more than my pervious 100-gallon system. I went trough 4 tanks in 6 years smal.. bigger.. bigger.. and now small again.

Great video! Any thoughts on Red Sea's system? I am thinking about starting a reef tank. I love the look of the Redsea reefer tanks. And as this would be my first tank. I am thinking of doing a 'trust fall' with their tank, lights, gyre, skimmer, and chemistry. Any areas where I should look to mix it up?
@BRStv
@BRStv 4 жыл бұрын
Red Sea definitely has a solid system from tanks, to lights, to pumps, to skimmers. If I had one critique, it would be that their dosing system can be a little complicated with so many bottles. That said, you could certainly use their tanks/equipment, but go with a different dosing program if you felt the need.

The BRS 160 looks amazing. I’ve been watching for years now. I finally have a question, since you usually cover everything lol. What do you guys think of Aqua Forest? I’ve been using it for the past few months and have had amazing results.

They have quite a big line of supplements. We've used most of their products here and there, but have never set up a fully Aquaforest system.

I’m not sure if what I’m doing is good or bad, but I’m using mineral water for top-off which contains trace elements together with calcium and magnesium , and just dosing alkalinity. Seems to be working for now
@BRStv
@BRStv 2 жыл бұрын
The problem with that is that it's hard to know which trace elements you're introducing and at what concentration. For that reason, we usually like to top off with RODI water whenever possible.

What is the salt you guys use at BRS ? I dose Mag,Cal and Alk.Ive been using reef crystals thinking the I was getting the additional trace elements through 10% weekly water changes. It may not be the case using this salt. Thanks for all the help from your videos.

Hi from South Texas. I am setting up a mixed reef tank. On previous Marine tanks I ran a heater but a friend told me he never runs a heater. I keep my house temp set at 72 and my tank seems to be holding steady around 74.5. But in doing some internet research I seem to get the consistent you should be at 77. Whats your thoughts? Is 74 OK? or to low. Thanks.
@BRStv
@BRStv 4 жыл бұрын
While you probably won't see any major issues with fish or coral mortality at 74-75 degrees, it's reasonable to expect slightly higher metabolic function at slightly higher temps. For that reason, a vast majority of reefers shoot for 78-80 degrees F.

I've been watching alot of episodes of brs on here and every time I watch one out of curiosity.. alli see and hear is chat about how difficult marine aquarium keeping is ... and that's exactly how your show shouts out. DIFFICULTY.. CONFUSEMENT .. CONPLICATING ... my 17 years of reef keeping has been a joy and still is with an awesome aquarium.. yes there are some things you lads touch on that are of value .. but I'm sorry lads... all the tech you talk about to promote and pump up your sales dosent work with everyone... it's a shame you come across trying to sell your franchise to keep your buisness going when in actual fact ... we dont need half of the thi gs you guys put on screen to be successful... PATIENCE .. HUSBANDRY ... .. I dont even own a skimmer and I'm successful... your having refers spending money on a false buisness ... no need for it at all ...... on on on on on on on on on on on
