Mastering Gouges: Woodturning Tools With Sam Angelo

In this video, I will cover the spindle gouge and the bowl gouge and how each is used in wood turning. Grain direction has a lot to do with this lesson. A spindle gouge is generally used on wood with grain running parallel with the bed ways. When using a bowl gouge the grain runs perpendicular to the bed of the lathe. Also, Sam spends time explaining when the spindle roughing gouge is used and a warning to be careful with this tool.

Hey Sam great video, I know it's hard to get everything into the video but I think you should show the difference between a spindle roughing gouge and a bottom feeder bowl gouge. I think a lot of new turners would get a lot from it, I know when you explained it to me it made it easier to understand.
