Back at base, we prepare for the final affliction: Broken Body. Healing will be turned off and all damage received is doubled. Time to be extra careful. In preparation, we need to craft some gear and do some fishing.

One small hint: as fishing hut counts as outdoors, your clothes degrades. Especially when you stay in a hut when a blizzard hits. So I always remove my clothing in fishing sessions. It saves some percent. Especially when you do a session over 4 or 5 days straight.

I always strip when I'm in a warm structure or cave. Over a long run it adds up. Just have to remember to put it back on :)

Take tip ups out when you leave. 100% frozen ice will automatically snap the line and when the line snaps it does extra damage to a tip up.

In my long Misery run, I found the lack of cloth for repairs and making tip-ups a problem. Making crafted clothes reduces the need for cloth and is infinite. I've just travelled from Camp Office to Desolation Point and back without losing any health.

I have my own misery on my interloper run. I accidentally missclicked on raw bear meat… know I am running through coastal highway and desolation point to grab mushrooms. 😂

Suggestion for a goal/challenge: visit and map a ”tourist spot” in each region while suffering broken body, like muskeg overlook, bear creek campground, misty falls picnic area, the hunting lodge, and so on.

Re, Hibernation strategy.... That's where the Cougar was good. It forced you to leave a region. I wasn't that fussed about hunting it, the strategy was to try and live with it. I was a little sad that they removed it.

I think Misery would have been much better as a challenge mode rather than an actual difficulty type. It doesn't really feel like a difficulty type because once you get to 50 days you just kinda sit there. It feels like whiteout part 2 lol

I’ve really enjoyed this series. IMO you mastered it. Maybe just show what it would be like to move to a coastal region for beach coming. Personally I like bleak inlet.

Bashrobe made a fishing guide where he mentions that the fishing hole inside the hut freezes more slowly, so you can preserve condition on your hammer and tip-up that way

It'd be nice if sharpening was one of those things in the game where you picked how long you wanted to spend at it. If you only wanted to sharpen "once", it'd just be fifteen, but that clicking can indeed get pretty repetitive if you're going for more.

Fishing hibernation sounds very chill. It 'll become harder once they put en cougar back, you'll need at least 2 regional bases.For next time, maybe you should get some ptarmigan feathers too to repair your bedroll, and for the insulation. Getting the radio is a good next goal.

Forsaken Airfield in Misery? Never… it’s so cold, and blizzards can last forever. I had one nearly 70 hours. I would avoid the new regions in Misery. The amount of resources you need to survive there is incredible.

Great video, im excited to see if you can do signal void, Sundered Pass might get a little chilly this time of year, bring a jacket. If the Cougar deals any amount of damage when you encounter it, the run is over. Broken body doubles the damage of everything, and the lacerations will bleed at random, unless of course that all changes.

I think you can live through the cougar attack even on misery, via using bulletproof vest and other clothes that provide you with a lot of defence, there's a video covering it, also as they change the cougar it could be possible to kill it without getting into struggle, but it might be as well not easy, anyways good luck on your runs

@@OldGodOfAsgard My understanding is that the vest will help tank some of the damage, but wont stop the bleeds, which can happen at anytime with laceration, so with out the ability to heal I don't see how you can make it much farther than the encounter. Now if you use the Pies that currently heal you I can see it possible, but if you have 0 healing, I dont see you making it much further. However You could win the Fight still and kill the Cat, before you die. Also I would almost suggest that the Cold would do you in before the wounds of the Cougar.

Yayyy!! Glad you made it to day 50 Zak. It would be interesting to have an analysis of the run, your thoughts on what you would do differently (not getting hypothermia in FM for one haha) would you go for the bear coat sooner or micro harvest to get level 5 cooking sooner? Pleased you made it though!

1:12:58 but you need a lot of Fuel for Fishing Hibernation. And it’s not easy to collect Fuel in this stage of misery. And with the cougar, it is impossible.

Once you have all the correct clothing, you can go out for a good while in the evening to gather sticks. With the cougar, you just need bases in two near regions.

.. and speaking of Cougars. I reckon that the Cougar should have visibly stalked you, once it invaded your territory and got closer the longer you were out doors until it attacked you. Similar invisible attack as they had originally. If you tried to shoot it, it would just run away, but be twice as close next time it appeared stalking you. It's stalking mechanic is that it always runs to get behind you. The only way to kill it should have been by "Walking the Kitty" into an active moose spawn and it would then go and chase and kill the moose.... and you could kill it as it ate the moose if you aimed and shot quickly. You should have been able to Walk the Kitty into a bear and the bear would scare it away and reset the "Stalking Distance Timer". That way you could "Use" it and still be able to "live with it" like you can with the Doggies by using them to hunt. Should also be able to craft pants, shirt and hat from it..... anyway, it will be interesting to see what they come up with.

1:35:00 that 'endgame loop' is one thing I do not like about TLD, it gets boring at that point, it isn't hard or challenging - just boring. It would be nice if we had additional things to do, maybe even 'busywork' that would help with passing the time, rather than just /bed, pass time etc. Issue is I can't really think of anything. I think re-add the cougar (make it a physical animal that stalks you) but.. After 10 days cougar shows up in zone, when cougar shows up wolves/deer are sparse during this time. Forcing the player to either deal with the cougar or run. After the cougar is killed, some of the deer will come back, but wolf packs (3-6 in size) will show up for awhile, since the Apex predator isn't around. As a 'double punishment' of sorts for players. But the cougar MUST be a physical entity, you have to give the player the ability to defend themselves. What the cougar was before isn't acceptable.

Grats on 50 days. I would say to do Signal Void, but you just did that on the interloper. On the other hand, I don't see a particular reason for this run to not meet the long dark. Aside, with level 5 cooking, can you eat predator meat if it's fresh?

Any tips for hunting a moose? Im doing a interloper run, usally I die within a few days but so far i been doing really good. I have a bow with lvl 4 archery and I want to hunt it to make a bag but im not sure im confident enough in my skill to hunt and kill it.

I always hunt from high place, so moose can't get to me, then you can just spam arrows

@@Daniel-op2is yes, unfortunately the moose may despawn and be absent for days. In the case of the moose, it seems to appear very randomly, so it is best to kill it when you happen to come across it. Additionally, if you see moose markings anywhere, it means that there may be a moose in the area.

I’ve just come back to the game after 2 years and I put about 10 hours in at mystery lake and mountain town in multiple play throughs and I can not find a rifle, I started spamming new playthroughs and can’t find a rifle anywhere at all. I’ve double checked my settings and all, am I just the unluckiest person ever or is there no rifle spawns anymore? This game is fun but not fun without the rifle I don’t feel like running across 5 maps to find one

When you talk about clothing you basicaly just mention the warmth values. You dont consider windprofing important? I get that water resistance is less important and defence even more so but the resistance to wind is still worth alot imo.

This is so not fun.... I wont be playing this if they don't allow for some type o healing. Your movement is drastically limited so you just camp there ... In my longest loper run I just went from CH to Blackrock in one day, had a lot of fun doing it. Misery is camping mode...
