This is a good and informative video about the great "Mastering The Mix" products. But this was "easy" stuff: electronic music where every element is sampled, pre-recorded and production-ready. I would love to see something similar in a rock mix... or in some other genre where actual musical instruments are played.

hi! thanks for this video. but there are some things i am still thinking about 1) i am wondering why are you aiming for a target loudness instead of whatever dynamics reduction sounds good? 2) i am wondering why are you hunting for resonances? of course if you swipe reso across your mix you will hear resonances you don't like. but if you don't hear them before you use the tool, then why fix what isn't broken? perhaps i'm misunderstanding something and you heard them prior to opening the plug-in. 3) i love incredibly loud compressed music, but i keep hearing these weird sucking in and out compression artifacts that are typically avoided by tweaking the compression settings. not talking about sidechaining instruments to the kick. i think it's because of a neglect to tighten up the bass frequencies (without ruining the thump of course). i'm not afraid of -5 depending on the genre, but if it's not dialed in well you risk that fluttering effects in the compression stage(s). 4) the reference track had some pretty annoying 1-3 kHz and yours sounded much warmer, which i liked. is that something you didn't like about the reference track? 5) isn't it unwise to try to shape your tone after another song when the instruments/patches use so much different? and isn't it weird to look at the difference between the frequency spectrum and simply EQ your songs to match the other, just based on principle? it seems like a lot of things are being done based on principle rather than according to what the song needs. i do have reference and expose and use them often. but i guess i don't allow them to have so much control over how i react to what they show me.

What I really like to know is,how to import the reference track?It needs to be a wave too ror a official AAC download right?Cause when I just record a song from spotify or youtube in my daw then it gets the level I‘ve set and its an lower quality then my track. Right?So how to deal with it?

Yeah, you will want to use a higher quality audio file where possible. Recording a youtube video isn't the best option. - JC

I didn't even know it was possible to master a track while it was in wav. I got a ton of old tracks i could totally run through this

In Expose 2 you didn't load the reference track. It only showed Your track in the EQ section.

He mastered so fast the song because he is a highly experienced music producer, am I right? Now, in my case, I don't know anything about mastering, so, the first song I would master, it would take several days (and a very bad mastering 🤣🤣); and I'm deaf in one ear, folks.

He did what was needed for sure, but you’re right, he didn’t finish the master. To be fair, this video would need at LEAST 15 more minutes to show the mastering portion. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Would love to see a part 2 to see it finished.
