Amazing and well composed video. The time lapses are stunning. I don't know how your channel evaded my gaze for so long. Beautiful work! Surprised that you don’t use the wet kitchen towel in a ziploc bag method for capsicums. I find it to be the most reliable and convenient. is that 100% compost in your fabric pots? I've noted that a few growers in the U.K. are using mostly compost and getting huge plants. I've been told not to use more than 10% for best drainage. I'd rather have bigger plants! Your videos are a pleasure to watch and a perfect manual, great job!
@PepperGuru Жыл бұрын
100% Yes sir. A proper humus compost should drain very well.
@lautenmacher Жыл бұрын
@@PepperGuru that is a very important distinction. Not all compost is completely broken down into humus. Ahem...like mine! Still learning how to get that in my context. Thanks for clarification.
@PepperGuru Жыл бұрын
@@lautenmacher exactly. Not all composts are created equal and therefore some growers perception of “compost” is severely limited.
@danblakeman41818 ай бұрын
@@PepperGuru how does one determine if it's "proper" or not? I am trying mushroom compost from a local nursery this year and it looks much like what you're using here.
@PepperGuru8 ай бұрын
@@danblakeman4181 Humus is dark, organic material that forms soil when plant and animal matter decays. When plants drop leaves, twigs, and other material to the ground, it piles up. This material is called leaf litter or humus or soil. Try to mimic nature and create a proper compost.

Thank you so much for this can't wait to use some of these techniques this coming season! are you using 10 gallon grow bags? Also what do you call that type of drip hose that you have in the grow bags? I've been trying to find an irrigation system that works well with grow bags and yours seems exactly what I was picturing my mind. Where did you get your system from?
@PepperGuru Жыл бұрын
The bags I planted into at the end are #15 gallon smarties. The drip rings I fabricated myself out of a combination of solid 1/4 inch and drip 1/4 inch with T’s. I should do a video on those!
@5starr1 Жыл бұрын

Been watching this video a bunch lately , getting close to crunch time ❤️ Awesome video man , when you transplant your seedlings to the 3.5 inch cells are you using the mycorrhizae at all ?
@PepperGuru9 ай бұрын
Awesome thank you! The compost I pot up into already has a healthy fungal and bacterial population, so I prefer to stick with those species rather than bagged inoculant. When I plant out into final containers, it’s the same situation and then I start hitting with IMO. So in essence, I opt for the indigenous fungal and bacterial life already present in my compost and then my inputs.

Blissful! Please tell what kind of rooter cubes you are using there? Am I correct in thinking the rooter cubes make life as easy as possible for the wild ones and that’s why the wild ones get started in those versus the 3 part mix that the domesticated peppers get started in? Regarding the 3 part mix…is equal parts of each by volume? Many thanks in advance!!
@PepperGuru11 ай бұрын
Precisely. Rooter plugs provide the perfect oxygen to moisture exchange, where as mediums can often dry out or hold too much moisture. As for the starter mix I blend here in this video, I shoot for around 50-70 percent organic matter and then 20-30 percent aerators. I just eye ball it most of the time.
