How do you make the one similar to this but the flour is mixed in with the meat/mushroom and is wrapped in banana leaf then steamed? Family calls it “khao ep ger”

Chinese like it with a slight sweeten soy sauce, Vietnamese like it with luc num, a fish sauce with a bit of kick from raw garlic and chili.

Wowww I've never seen this technique before. I would love to try it! I only recently tried to make it and used the pan + flip technique and it's so messy 😞 The filling and everything else looks the same as other recipes I've seen, which I think are still Vietnamese. Is the steaming technique the only difference that makes this Lao style? I mean, it's a big difference, don't get me wrong. I love it. Just clarifying. 🙏🏼❤️
