Correct - exactly that. The infinitive is ‘versprechen’

Because he’s the direct object. Indirect object (dative) generally only happens if there’s ANOTHER direct object. Who is throwing? She is. What is she throwing? Him. Accusative. Hope that helps!

‘Folgen’ is a verb that takes the dative. Afraid it’s just a rule!
