Nice presentation! I see Hilo in the back… I am lucky to have one as well … how do they compare? If you were to keep only one which one would you keep and why? I’m having problems with my Hillo as I need more I/o to go into a 5057 Neve. Summing mixer but not sure what should I buy to expand Hilo’s capability without compromising in quality… Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you for your question. As for the Hedd it’s one step up from my Hilo. They are paired via AES because I can’t connect Hedd directly to my PC.I use Hedd’s ad and da when I work hybrid and use Hilo’s da when I work completely in the box.

@@boogiesnail Thank you for your response. Would you achieve the same sonic results if instead of the Lynx Hilo you would use a cheaper interface ...lets say an Arturia Audiofuse and feed the Hedd via spdiff? I guess my question is, would it make a difference if feeding the Head via a cheap interface vs an outstanding one? It would be nice if you could share your connectivity to monitors and the mastering chain. By the way, can the Hedd, have the DA and AD working at the same time...I think so as far as I understand...but how? Loopback? Can I playback and print at the same time using the Hedd? If yes, how do you monitor that Loopback. Sorry so many questions :)

@@ChestermereTimes Yes you can use Hedd's AD/DA at the same time. That what I usually do :) To connect all my analog gear I'm using a mastering console from this producer: dutch.audio/nl/ and I love it. I can connect 8 analog units and use them in various order. It has some other nice and professional features. I think that if you use your Arturia Audiofuse together with the Hedd it will have same quality as with the Hilo. The main AD/DA job is done by the Hedd in this case. I use Hedd and Hilo together only for hybrid approach. If I work ITB it is enough for me to use only Hilo.

@@boogiesnail thank you. I am a bit concern about the clocking. It is my understanding that AES would provide accurate clocking but toskink won’t. I don’t know if this statement is correct or incorrect at my end.

How long did you have to wait from when you paid for it until you received the unit 😊

It took a few months to arrive after I paid for it. That was back in 2023. 😊 Worth the wait, though! 🙌

I'm trying to figure out applications for this unit. For monitoring/tracking, would you go from the analog outs to a device with headphone or speaker monitoring (since the HEDD does not have these options). And for the AD application on a mix as you mention, are you going from DAW>HEDD>DAW and keeping the entire process digital?

Hi! Do you have it calibrated to -14 when mastering?. Best/Mathias

Hi Mathias. I do it with the mix and set it to -6 Peaks’ level and only after that the mastering process starts.

Hello! Great review! I was looking into the manual and it is not clear to me on the connectivity side. I’m not sure I fully understand how this works. If I’m coming out of the DAW on Galaxy 32 out 1-2 going into my mastering chain as Creme RC in and from there out into my Better maker Liniter. From the the limiter’s out into the Quantum IN. Which position should I place the button from the following: ANA, AD or DA? The idea is that now that the analog signal is inside the Quantum via analog 1-2 I’m trying to push it for print to a secondary computer which has a Lynx Hilo attached to it- all this via AES between the Quantum alit and the Lynx Hilo IN. Your help would be greatly appreciated on this. Thank you.
@boogiesnail2 жыл бұрын
Hi. I don't really help you with Galaxy 32. I never had this device. What I know is that in the DIGI setting, the Quantum will run digital in from one of three sources, while outputting on all three digital outputs and the analog output simultaneously. Set to ANA mode, the Quantum's input is analog and it outputs on all three digital outputs plus the analog output at the same time.
