"completely free"... so P2W and Pay 2 Advance...Superior premium vehicles that are behind the pay wall, last time i check premium bushes that turn your tank into bush giving huge advantage in simulator battles and of course huge grind fest that takes for ever to get from tier 4 to 6, while you already have invested so much time there is not kinda turning back, specially if you end up loosing as a team you need to play lower tier games to fund all the maintenance costs of the higher tier games... Seen it, done it, no thanks, though hopefully you get some sponsor money out of this despite how scummy monetization company has... well least it aint world of tanks and its paper tanks and blatant P2W..

As an engineer and diesel technician from my experience white smoke like that is almost always fuel vaporization from incomplete combustion. Typically this is from incorrect injection timing (timing is to retarded / late) or low compression in a cylinder pack (or a few)
@Hjerte_Verke
@Hjerte_Verke 3 жыл бұрын
They sure have improved it a bit, to where there's a lot less white smoke and more black smoke under hard acceleration, and that is observable in this video and the longer workshopvlog video. I think your assessment is correct--and a compression test of all 12 cylinders seems crucial at this point. Other armchair tank mechanics in the comments just tell us "it's supposed to smoke like that, it's a cheap Russian tank engine!" but that's not it at all. Plenty of other videos of T-55s on KZbin and they're about normal (smoking-wise) for every multicylinder diesel you've ever seen...

It's better to listen to noise coming from the engine in the lowest idle mode first. If it won't idle you can look for other things then the timing. Because changing timing only works if the rest of the engine is in good condition. And changing timing can be a 'thing' on these old russian machines and it may be set perfect now and difficult to get back if something else is the problem. This is not a 1 cylinder like mustle1 one handles. And maybe the reason why they didn't start with the timing in this episode. Complicated systems can lead to catch 22 situations.

Hey Milo I feel you’ve come to far with that engine to give up on it ,so I think a compression test to look for low compression cylinders , if that does not work engine out and definitively set camshaft and injection pump timing if that does not work well you have some spare engines and know you have a good set of injectors and a pump good luck I hope you get it to work , I reckon you need Dirk back👍

Well, you have to remember that they did a re-assembly after they took it apart, not a rebuild (aside from honing the cylinders), so that's mostly the original engine/pistons/valves. At the very least it probably needs new pistons, rings and cylinders re-bored in the next size up. It's amazing that it runs at all, actually. I'd love to see a compression test of all 12 cyl...

It looked like the Soviets had realised that the tank would be getting thrashed a good deal of the time so the fuel mixture is fine at high engine revolutions. When you were running at high-speed around the field the exhaust cleared. It looks like the smoke is rather white, which suggests that the injectors in some cylinders are not atomising the fuel and it cannot burn properly if at all. Hopefully tuning the fuel system will prevent Holland being covered by white fumes every time you bring the tank out.

white smoke- fuel vaporizes , black smoke - not enough air. but it doesn't have turbo anyways.. but installing it would eliminate most of the smoking when engine is warm .. also there might be some possibility to get better nozzles for injectors with better spray pattern or completely new injectors but they're unlikely to fit without modifications .. sanding down the cilinder head could also work so there would be higher pressure in the cilinders therefore more bang , less smoke

Definitely an improvement once the injector pump had been calibrated and the injectors overhauled, that is the reason why Petrol engines lasted for so long in front line vehicles, that would have been impossible at a forward base without extensive workshop facilities. Lots of comments about the amount of smoke, I’ve saw T-55s in former Yugoslavia, and Gulf, and not one of them was less smoky than this vehicle, from black to almost a bluish white colour, not once did I see a tank that produced little smoke.

Those are other symptoms white smoke in a diesel is completely unburned fuel, black smoke is too much fuel, and blue is oil.

@Mastermilo Guys, do you remember, how you did valve seat repair? I bet it has poor compression. It is possible to get engine, i think same as yours for 6k€ Don't know much about it's condition, but i think it should be in much better condition than yours, since it was used to run in old school generator. Send me message if you are interested.

About the part in the video involving war thunder, how did you get your hands on the type 69 IIa? I looked and found it on the Chinese servers but on the live servers it seems to be missing

You can see the oil residue from that crack in the exhaust. Definitely a result of that pitting and rust on the cylinder walls you showed a while back. Needs a hone and oversized pistons, and a head rebuild with proper reseating and measuring of the valve recession. You could overhaul it but I would just accept that she's a rough old girl and leave as is 👌

Pretty sure this engine have one or more cylinder lacking compression and burning oil on idle (blue smoke) Sometimes it can just correct itself on the long run. Heat cycles, good clean oil and high cylinder pressure can unstick rings.

Naprawiony pompa, wtryski i nadal bardzo zasłona dymna z wydechu... proponuję zmierzyć ciśnienie sprężania na cylindrach bo może mieć za mało na diesla i nieśmiała paliwa stąd ten dym. Pozdrowienia z Polski!

One thing that I do know is that those WW2-designed Soviet tank powerplants tend to be really smoky even when they're running right. My money was on the injectors being garbage, given that some of them were in cylinders that were full of water.
