I cannot Believe you have come so far with this Tank. The chap that deactivated its gun in the UK is a friend of mine. He told me the tank was in a right state., Almost a relic. I was offered this tank to buy and turned it down due to its condition. WELL DONE. Pure skill and dedication. I am amazed. We have been watching the progress and you guys have excelled in excellence and skill. best wishes from the UK.

Yeah, but you wouldn't be running these level of repairs and troubleshooting in the field. In the field, you simply replace the engine and send the engine or maybe even the tank back to field workshop in the rear echelon. But yeah, I do remember reading there was a lot of tanks breaking down during the march in World War 2.

@@davekauffman8727 Pretty sure Emile does the sub titles himself, there are 2 ways of doing subtitled on KZbin, the automatic ones, or you can also create a text file and do them manually, in one of his early videos he says why he talks in Dutch and then translates it to English, I think he said it just flows better for him it being his native language, it was something like that anyway, the video is probably still there if you search for it, he also said in another video that doing the subtitles is the really time consuming thing for him.

As a Yank across the pond, it's a bit hard to follow unless I stop the video to read the English subtitles. Not that I can't read that fast, but while I'm reading, I'm not watching so much. I am amazed how these guys go about figuring out how to fix an old tank that initially didn't run and had so many significant problems. In my non-mechanical opinion these are near geniuses in fixing this tank and others as I this is the only video I've seen of them. Here in the USA, we have good old boys who find cars and trucks that have been sitting in barns and fields for 20-70 years and try to get the engines to run again. Most often the bodies can't be salvaged, but parts from less decayed body parts can be used to restore the old cars and trucks. Not nearly as complicated or as difficulty to disassemble as the tank, but similarly amazing to see how they get those old engines running again. Ditto here in the USA for the very few companies who are restoring pre-WW I, WW II, and other historically important aircraft...many back to flying condition

I am a bicycle mechanic and fix what I can, on my car. I love your videos. 1) Your tank is now named Old Smoky Hydrocarbons. 2) The two of you are having more fun than I am watching the video. 3) How many times have you pulled the engine out? The smart way to restore that tank would have been to strip it down to every nut and bolt and build it back up. Disassemble the engine, transmission and coolant system; check every bearing, every seal, mic the cylinder walls, the pistons, install new rings, confirm the timing, etc. Nothing but bench work. But what fun is that? And who wants to watch an old, fat mechanic with no sense of humor overhaul a diesel engine? I prefer watching the two of you zipping up and down your neighbors field. I have to admit that I am learning more about the mechanical operations of tanks than I ever have by watching the Tank Museum at Bovington, overhauling their Matilda II. No one has ever taken a tank for a test ride with the turret off and allowed the viewer to watch the engine and linkage operating. Do you think you could run a compressed air line down the barrel of the cannon and fire confetti out the barrel? Flower pedals are biodegradable.

Whelp looks like I was right, they had water in the oil which was causing all that white smoke. The water was causing it to blow past the rings and burn/get spewed out the exhaust. She is looking good now, no longer a rolling smoke bomb. The color of the smoke looks good for the most part, I mean you were running her good and hard so not too surprised she was belching out some black smoke. It might clear up some more once she breaks in But it still sounds like it is running a bit rough though, more noticeable when it is idle or low power so might be why she is still smoking as much as she is.

Hi guys! Greetings from Siberia. Well done, good project! This is a Russian tank, I don't know much about what I'm talking about. At one time I served in the army in the tank forces of the USSR. In the video, I noticed that you did not lower the driver's hatch when open on the armor. It is very dangerous!!! When driving, there is a high probability of the hatch falling off the lock and causing them serious injuries! When you lift the hatch with the screw and turn it with the handle to open it, in extreme sweating, the open hatch should be lowered onto the armor, using the same screw that lifts the hatch. I really hope that Google Translate did its job well!

zfreak280 yes! black is better than white smoke, that means the engine is under load and can’t burn all the fuel, they can lean the mix out, find out what is making it not burn the fuel, or live with it since it’s natural for diesels to smoke a little when under load (it can be tuned out so that it won’t do that, thanks to modern technology)

Probaly wanne look at the dieselpump and wanne turn it a bit down, engine is running rich (black smoke). The white smoke however is more concerning as it indicates a coolant leak into the cylinders. Nice to see the progress Milo!
