I got introduced to your music about 3 years ago. You are the first person that comes to mind when talking to people about music they might not know. I’m always introducing your music to friends. There is no musician out there that deserves this moment more than you. It may have taken some time for the world to catch on. But there is something special about this song, and it feels special that something so personal is the song that got you noticed. You’re an inspiration to many. And I’m positive even more are gna join for the ride

Ren. You truly are a one of a kind. Everything you’ve been through will absolutely take you to the next level. My wife suffers from an Autoimmune disease so I am somewhat familiar with the long struggle of trying to set a baseline that is livable. This song…..song? Can we even call it that?! This performance was a MASTERPIECE and I really, wholeheartedly believe you are missing your calling. Let me explain. Your songs/performances are so unique that you really don’t fall into a genre, which to me is a positive. If I were you, I would consider finding a playwright to turn you music into an off/on broadway show. Just my opinion. Nice work.

One thing I haven't seen anybody pick up on yet is the fact the the spoken part at the end is the exact thing he told us throughout the song. He acted it out completely, the dance between light and dark. The more brightly his light shone, the more confident he got, the deeper the darkness got too and it bit back harder each time. Until he softened (he literally softened his tone of voice for the last verse) and learned to accept it was a part of his life, but he'd still come out on top

Great reaction. I only recently learned about Ren and have gone down this rabbit hole ever since. Many of the subjects, experiences, and emotions expressed in his songs touch me on a very personal level because I can relate to and identify with many of his struggles. A little background on Ren that I gathered from the internet. Ren pursued a career in music from an early age. In 2009, while studying music performance at Bath Spa University, he began to experience health issues and was struggling to attend his lectures. In 2010, he was signed by Sony Records and was working on an album when his health deteriorated to the point where he was unable to continue. His illness often kept him in bed for up to 23 hours a day. Ren was initially diagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder, and chronic fatigue syndrome. It would take seven years before he was finally correctly diagnosed with autoimmunity, Lyme disease, and brain damage. Ren eventually underwent stem cell therapy in the United States, which improved his health, but it has not been a cure. He is currently in Canada for more treatments. Ren is an incredible and unique artist; he plays multiple instruments, has great vocal ability, is an excellent storyteller, and is quite the philosopher and poet. From what I read, his videos are generally shot live, all in one take by his friend. I recommend you check out some of his other work. The trilogy "The Tale of Jenny/Screech/Violet" is haunting and has an unexpected ending; WATCH THEM IN THE STATED ORDER, as this is the flow of the storyline or just watch “The Tale of Jenny & Screech (Full)” which includes “Violet’s Tale at the end. It is another example of Ren’s genius and a master’s class in storytelling. Ren’s collaborations with Chinchilla (“Chalk Outlines,” “How to Be Me”) are beautiful and showcase his singing voice while addressing mental health. I would watch the official live music video. "Chalk Outlines" is one of my favorite songs rights now. Ren's personal reflections are threaded through many of his songs; "Insomnia," "Depression," “Diazepam," “Penitence,” “Dear God,” “Heretic,” “Dominos,” his "Freckled Angels" album, just to name a few, all deserve a listen. His song "Money Game" (Part I & II) is another recommendation. As a solo act, Ren performs a range of genres, much of it hip-hop/rap influenced, as well as guitar-based ballads. His performances with Sam Tompkins (“Blind Eyed,” “Earned it /Mans World / Falling”), Eden Nash (“Humble,” “Ocean”), Bibi (“Crutch,” “Ahiahiaoha”), Molly McKinna (“Penitence”), his former bandmate, Romain Axisa (“French Song”) and any of his performances as a member of the band "The Big Push" (which unfortunately broke up) are awesome and well worth checking out, both the busking (street performances) and their live recordings. Ren has impressive vocal and instrumental skills. He is one-of-a-kind and appears mature beyond his years. Ren just released his latest single, “Sick Boi.” In anticipation of his stay in Canada for more treatments, Ren prepared some music ahead of time to be released over the next 3-6 months that he expects to be gone.

Good things to know about Ren: 1: this was performed live and audio is a single take…only took 4 tries. Video has a few cuts for closup shots, but the audio is continuous. Ren clearly likes pushing the boundaries of filmed musical performance. Jenny and Screech is 3 single 1-take moving audio and video performances. And before everyone yells at you, do a reaction to the full versions with all 3 tales. 2: Ren has been very sick for a long time. He was bitten by a tick and contracted Lyme disease. He was misdiagnosed for many years and treated for mental disorders and chronic fatigue syndrome instead of the actual disease he had. The combination of the psychiatric drugs he took and years of untreated Lyme disease left him in a state where he would spend 23 hours a day in bed. He was finally properly diagnosed with Lyme disease and related autoimmune problems and got stem cell treatments that made him feel better, but he is still quite ill. He wrote this song, Sick Boi, and a few others that haven’t come out yet, but is currently in Canada receiving intensive daily treatments so he can’t fully enjoy the success he is finally getting…though he has been watching reaction videos and commenting on them, so don’t be shocked if he drops by. 3: He got his start busking in London and Brighton, is talented in just about every facet of making music, and was signed by Sony right before he got sick. He was unable to produce music so Sony dropped him. He’s a staggering talent who writes performs, directs, sings, raps (Ren can Rap Rap), produces, plays most instruments, and and is clearly an incredible actor. Waiting for his first streaming series. 4: he collaborates with lots of other cool artists…you’ll enjoy his collaborations with Chinchilla. He also has a band called The Big Push 5: Go and read his community page…it’s worth it

Thanks for reacting to this bros. Stay awesome, man. He's gonna love your reaction. Also... he literally visualized his lyrics. Tiny light in the back casting a darker shadow in front of the brightest light showing lightest shadow. Him being sickly/stiff, then loosening up. Standing (growing) & fluidly moving about in full expression while his feet stay planted. ((iMo))

Guys, I LOVE your reaction to this masterpiece. You so openheartedly express your emotions. You're not alone, I felt exactly the same. I've watched a ton of reactions to Hi Ren, and it's truly amazing. There seem to be almost universal stages of experiencing Hi Ren for the first time: 1. Weird set. Saw maybe? What's with the pig? 2. Guitar skills! Cool! 3. [Ren's opening song] What the??? Where is this going? 4. Okay! Rappin! 5. [Therapy Ren speaks up] Wha-- wait a minute?!!! Angel/devil? Split personality? 6. [Gotta kill you if you wanna kill me] STOP! WHOA! This is... art. 8. Wow. Eminem! But not a copy, this is a unique voice. WHO IS THIS GUY? 9. [attacks on Therapy Ren get more vicious] Damn, he's totally slamming himself.... I know this from the inside 10. [Primeval Shadow Ren comes totally out] OH JESUS. 11. [Human Ren emerges, loosening the noose on the rope]

How can he not be affected by the machine is my fear for Ren . This dude is special . You have to be born with talent this guy has got. He can literally do anything . He’s a student of music . Check some of his early stuff floating around and you’ll see what I mean . Please don’t go mainstream . As for this track , how the hell do you perform that in front of an audience ? Surely it can’t have the same spontaneousness like this performance. Nearly all his stuff is live and he’s happy to leave any slight mistakes , although he’s so fuckin telented and imaginative that he probably means to do it. I can only thank him from the bottom of my heart for being here . Completely lost faith that we’d witness musical greatness again .✌️

Misdiagnosed with Lyme disease for 10 years stuck inside living in complete misery and pain not knowing what was wrong with him, that would drive anyone of us mentally insane and for him to turn it around and use it to create masterpieces works of art in his music is amazing! You have to do the trilogy all in one! Jennys tales Screetchs tale and Violets tales, they all have their own seperate video but he released a 13 min video combining them all into one perfect video/song!
