Why do you never invest in crop rotation? I know unlike two man saw, it takes a while for the effect to get into play (roughly 30 min game time) but you never know how long your game will last. In a long run you need less lumberjacks to sustain farms so you in fact save population space for a bigger army. I'm quite sure if there's a tech to increase population limit by 10 for only 250W 250F you'll research it. (Especially when you already had thousands of wood and food)
