People wonder why toy stores are full of 80s toys 30 years later...simply the best decade ever

I can't express how much it means to me that all of you that have viewed and commented on this one video. Before my dad died, he wanted to know how "our KZbin status" was on this video. I told him that every child from the 80's is thankful that you are a historian of our childhood. Thanks again and I'm hoping that I can soon upload more videos in 2016. Take care and good journeys! Lol :)

Would you mind if I used some footage from this video on my video I'm planning to make? I own the very playsets that are shown in your video and would like to make a video showing them. I would give you credit and link this video. Please let me know.

sammyb7883 do you have any videos of going through toy store in the 80s
@sammyb78836 жыл бұрын
I do not sadly, I do have other nostalgic videos from places in the midwest like theme parks and such but I have not had the time to upload them all. I need to get a better computer to transfer videos to youtube. I will however, be at retrocon in the fall this year and they always have awesome throwback toys that I haven't seen in ages. I will post a video on youtube of retrocon this year by October. Thank you for watching and I am sorry there isn't much more than this video to share right now. Have a great week!

@sammyb78836 жыл бұрын
Thank you, that comment really means a lot! Even though it is a part of my family's home videos, it was recorded for the world to see. Unbeknownst to us at the time, that would be eventually the purpose for this video, as a part of toy history. We were honored to be a part of such a radical and gnarly experience and to share this for kids of all ages. Thank you for watching!
@sammyb78838 жыл бұрын
@VMIFerrari First of all, let me thank you for the comment! My dad recorded everything everywhere we went and my brother and sister and I were the typical 80's kids, doing all things which would now be considered retro lol I think, according to a representative who contacted me from Mattel, told me that we did in fact have the only known video to have surfaced from the mall tours. They did show this at other malls, not for certain where or when but if you check in the comments, some remember this rad display rolling into their mall. :) I have been told that my father and I are the keepers of the nerd Holy Grail! Lol We are glad and proud that we were able to touch the nostalgic hearts of those who watched this video, for us, the feeling on this end, is limitless. Thank you :)

5 year old me is sh!tting his pants right now.....that is one of the coolest concepts to sell toys I've ever seen! This is why the 80s rocked and why toys were so much more fun and imaginative back then.
@ia56629 жыл бұрын
I'm trying to comprehend how you could possibly disagree with my comment when I'm FROM the 80s???? What is there to disagree about? I made no comments about "this generation". If you truly think 80s kids lacked creativity you are sincerely and sorely mistaken. You really think 80s kids didn't play with their action figures outside, playstation didn't even exist yet and NES was in its infancy. Your comment literally describes the lives of most 80's and 90's kids.
@frankjones98398 жыл бұрын
You just don't see this level of care taken with toy products now. This was definitely a time when people took pride in what they created and also understood what kids wanted. Amazing video that really captures a bygone age. Ahh to be a kid in the 80s again ! Thanks for sharing.

You would think that after an advertising gimmick like this, that the MOTU toy line would have expanded longer than it did. It is amazing how it changes though, one day it's MOTU then it's TMNT, then Power Rangers and so on. It a rat race to try to keep something alive for a period of time and some have stood the test of time, but this was one line that you would think would never fade away. But there will always be memories and that was what I tried to sustain with this video! Thank you for watching and for the comment!

Truly a family fun experience yesterday to what is Comic Con today. I recently reviewed the Minicomic collection and I may plan to crowd fund the Eternia playset (because I never bought the original in '86). My father passed away years ago but he was never a fan. Most of my collecting went towards the 200X figures and statues.My original toys were sold long ago. I wonder if the parents of that time who were skeptical or dismissive really appreciate MOTU today and if children in 2022 like these toys. I have only seen one or two collect these at Target recently.

Thanks for watching, my dad wasn’t a fan either but he understood what it meant to me to go and see it and he had the foresight to record it. This is in an age before people recorded everything on the regular so I was grateful for him to know how much I would appreciate wanting to watch it over and over again. To him, he could see what I saw in MOTU as he would have seen Howdy Doody or Superman in his time. He got it and never tried to show any unappreciative attitude towards it. He and I used to watch Ren and Stimpy and Beavis and Butthead together in my teenage years, he was a cool guy and I miss him tremendously! I try to do the same for my daughter whenever she watches Bluey or Barbie or whatever is popular to her! Being a parent means showing them the world but also taking the time for you to understand and see their world too. Take care!

Where I lived we had a similar event but on a much smaller scale. He-Man and Skeletor made a promotional appearance at "The Hobby Shop" where they brought out toys and playsets like Castle GreySkull and Snake Mountain. I bought two figures at this event Buzzoff I believe and another but I don't remember the other, maybe Zodac. All the kids were given orange cardboard Zodac pistals and I "Shot" He Man, I love the villains. The costumes were made of rubber and both He Man and Skeletor looked their figures...literally. 1984 was a good year!
