@@JR.Ewing1125 I'm not sure. Personally, I was making the change to get away from nursing care. There must be a position you will qualify for with this experience, you're more well rounded than someone with just an MPH and no healthcare background.

My GRE is really low and the Public Health in Social Behavioral Science PhD program that I am applying to requires it but has no minimum score. I am wondering if making a solid personal statement (your video on this is great!) and getting a strong recommendation letter would be overshadow that. It would be great to receive your advice. I was also expecting to see a comparison between PhD or MPH in public health. I had a hard time thinking and considering about that.

No. They aren't Medical Doctors. With PHD, one become a Dr in Public health. They don't own or use stethoscope

Hello Dr, I'm currently running an Executive MPH program at a Nigerian University in Nigeria and working with one NGO here in Nigeria. I'm currently in school writing exams, but people are telling me I can't do a PHD or get an international PHD scholarship with an Executive MPH. Their reason is that an Executive MPH is a terminal degree😞. I've been so depressed and choose the executive program cos I can't get time off work to do a specialized MSC in health promotion or nutrition like they're recommending. Please how genuine is this claim??

@@bukolaamujo9080 Hi Bukola. I've never heard of a terminal degree before now. What I know is that executive MPH is designed for busy professionals who want to get a post graduate degree and still work. My worry which necessitated the initial question was hearing rumors that I can't get a scholarship abroad with an Executive MPH. I need to confirm if this is true from Dr Ann. It's the normal MPH, Just that the executive was added to show that the lectures are different from regular ones. We have lectures Thursdays to Saturdays while others have lectures throughout the week.

Hi Dr. Ann! Your content is a gold mine. I'm really interested in getting a MPH to integrate myself into American healthcare before trying to get a medical residency. Junior doctors in my country are mandated to work in Public Health since it is underserved field of medicine. And I've come to love it! But I have read some contradictory things about MDs and PH. How common is the combination in America? Especially for an International Medical Graduate?

I'm a Public Health professional, did MPH and graduated in 2019 from Michigan, USA. MDs and MPH is a common combination here in the States. I had so many IMGS in my class who were studying for residency while pursuing MPH. Hope that helps!

Dear Professor...thanks for this beautiful video... :) Can i ask you a doubt please... Soon after my masters, I had a medical emergency which prevented me from working for 8 months..n then corona n ...lockdown... So i lost almost a year n a half :( by God's grace am healthy now....i want to apply for PhD.. Whenever i write a CV this 1+ year gap is evident.. What can i do about it? Cz interview panel do ask me what did i do last year? n i hv nothing to say :( Please tell me how do i tackle this.. Hope to hear from you soon

Hello Dr Anne, can one study PHD of public health with MPH. Cos I heard MPH is a terminal degree and MSc in Public is not. I am currently applying for MPH. Please advise.

Yes, you can. I’m almost done with my MPH and I’m currently applying for PhD programs. MS or MPH or MSPH doesn’t matter. As long as you have a related master’s degree it will boost your application.

Is it redundant to have a B.S in ph community education and then pursue an mph? Also with a B.S. in ph & employment in the field could that be leverage to skip an mph & go for a PhD in ph? Would it be hard to get accepted into a program with only a BS?
