I don’t remember any team/player in any other sport you could say that about. We have some great players in Golf today and I still enjoy watching it all. If Scotty keeps it up people that missed Tiger may get to see what we saw… if not I wish people could have lived through that that truly love the sport.

I was in my freshman year of college when Tiger won his 5th green jacket in 2019. I will never forget how almost every other dorm room in our building had their door open cheering for Tiger down the stretch on that Sunday. No more than a couple people on our floor played golf, let alone watched it. But that is the impact Tiger woods has on not only golf, but the sports world as a whole. It was incredible, seeing guys who did not care about golf in the slightest shed tears as Tiger hugged Charlie. Greatest sporting moment of my life

@haroldfarquad688616 күн бұрын
It's hard to imagine any golf win ever matching this. This story took two decades to develop, and the reality is today's game is so hyper competitive, the margins between being a major contender and not even keeping your tour card are razor thin, that we're highly unlikely to see any golfer dominate the sport in the way Tiger did in his first 10-15 years. On top of that, the personal fall from grace and physical injuries he came back from are beyond what most athletes could endure. This story means so much because he was as high as any golfer ever was and fell just as far... and managed to fight back. The circumstances to create this win all have to line up... not happening in our lifetimes or the next. This stuff only comes around on the scale of multiple generations at best.

Haven't seen many people mention it, but Tiger does the same double fist clench a few times walking off the 18th green - pretty much exactly mimicking Jack's reaction on the 15th in '86 after hitting it close in two to set up eagle. Tiger himself has said that one of his earliest and favorite memories watching golf when he was young was that specific reaction by Nicklaus, which Tiger says was something he had never seen before - celebrating an iron shot. It's hard not to think that Tiger is paying homage here to Jack, and is pretty much saying (I think intentionally) that it's his version of Jack's sixth green jacket moment.
