I bought the 'Beano' about 3 months after it came out from a guy with a very tiny store who sold imports. I also got the first Crimson and Sabbath LP. I just took a chance on every record. I could not hear the records just read the liner notes. But the good bands like Mayall aloud me to hear Peter Green and Mick Taylor. I am 74 ...so been there...got the T-shirts :-)

@@mastertheguitar It was. I was smart enough to take advantage of the fact my grandmother was a Brit so I could get instant citizenship and moved to London UK straight to the West End and the clubs where everyone that made the big time played. I teamed up with Tallis a Prog Rock band. The singer came from operetta, the violinist from the London Philharmonic, the drummer was always compared to jazz drummer Elvin Jones. The bass player was friend of Geddy Lee with equal chops. We had our own thing for sure but we were compared to Crimson because of our aggressive blow out the back wall vibe.We always had line ups at the gigs, We were a inch away from the 'big deal' ....Then the Sex Pistols hit and the money in the biz went to punk bands .LOL Never say never! at 74 I have a new trio with younger players doing what is now referred as Prog Metal :-) It appears the world is again ready for ambitious music. Fortunately I made good use of the years by raising the bar on my technique and theory. I have always lived in the present and believed the best music has not been written or played yet.Its a helluva time to live in now. The business end is in the hands of the artists. I was therein the 'good ol'days, Yes there was a mountain of gold behind the door but the door was locked. Today there is no gold but WTF who cares there are no doors either. At 74 trust me after decades of simply getting by it turns out it is only the music that is the real gold.It always was. Trust me this is not philosophical bullsh@t it is a raw simple FACT! When Picasso was asked when he new he was an artist he said the second his first paint brush hit the canvas. It is that simple! If that is how you feel you are right. You only have to remember if the music biz sees you as a looser than you are hearing the words of the bricklayers and carpenters telling the architect where it's at. I find it laughable :-)
