I recently went to Mayhem Festival in Indiana and I was a little disappointed when I saw them live for the first time. But I'm still glad that I got to see them. I know they could've done better but hey Mastodon is awesome I'll still listen to them.

i talked with all of em except troy..went drinkin in a pub all night with brent n bill, hes a cool guy for sure, right nutter too..when the pubs closed we were walkin the streets and he commandeered a banjo from a busker n shredded out none other than blood and thunder, twas pretty awesome.. to be honest brann is the guy i thought was the coolest, hes one of the most respecting ppl ever, and he has a class sense of humour

When I first listened to Crack the Skye I was so pumped but it just sounded like mid-tempo sludgy drivel...oh, how wrong I was. After I gave up on thinking of it in terms of Blood Mountain and Leviathan, I began to realize just how awesome it was and to hear the evolution of their sound into something not only heavy and powerful, but also imaginative and beautiful.. What a great piece of work.
