What makes jaguar god such a fantastic song is that the transitions from one part to the next give the song the feeling of a journey. The last part completes the circle by bringing it back to the beginning, more or less. No middle parts, no journey. One of the best songs to do this is suppers ready by genesis. If you don't have all parts, you don't have the song. Same with jaguar god.

I dont know if im crazy. this is all info i have mixed up from a research i did ages ago: Brann lost his 14yo sister to suicide by consequences of living on an abusive household. Crack the sky is a direct reference to her, but i deeply believe Jaguar god is an emotional journey of how guilt can fuck you up after not being able to help the closest to you and the will to continue living for them. I've seen my sister trying to commit suicide and also lost close friends to drugs and this song is a 1:1 replica of how i've felt on my lowest and highest. I cant stress how much i love Benn's part. Im just so happy they have each others to support themselves and how much they love each others.

Thank you so much #TheBryBry! I loved Jaguar god from the first moment I heard it, but the reason I loved this song so much are the parts u have combined into this composition. Ive waited for this since the album was released and I think u did astonishing work on this. In my opinion the intro and specially the solo in the end is pure musical perfection from Mastodon. Great work!

É legal, mas pra mim tirou a melhor parte, que é aquela progressão em que o riff muda. Pra quem leu a letra, percebe como esta é uma cançar ímpar no álbum. O Mastodon sabe como trabalhar a ideia do conceitual.
@xBigSurMoonx7 жыл бұрын
I understand, but most of the negative comments are coming from the perspective of what people think the artist wanted to do and how it should be perceived by the perfect fan. We all view art in our own ways whether it be lyrically, instrumentally or otherwise. There should be more comments about the sound and what the sound means to the individual. Otherwise, it comes off as if people are suggesting that I either listen to the music their way or not at all. This is what I enjoyed and that's all that really matters. I would suggest that part of what helps musicians grow is when someone hears something in particular and integrates that sound into their own style. When people suggest that I took the best parts out of the song, I don't disagree. Although, I would say that type of comment is subjective. They may be the best parts to you and the majority, but I'm not even here to debate that in the first place. It's just an edit. People should understand that although their comments makes sense to them, to me it's as if someone is saying that I cannot take what I like from a song. I'll use that logic in two cases. The first case would be influences that Mastodon has cited throughout their career. Thin Lizzy, Pink Floyd and many more. Mastodon has used their styles in their songs many times, but they have not used every style those bands have created. I wouldn't criticize them for using some pieces of other bands creations and using it in their own way. I also wouldn't criticize them for omitting the other styles from their songs. The second case would be during one of the greatest moments in films. When Wayne's World used Bohemian Rhapsody during the famous head-bang scene, they play what might be considered most people's favorite part of the song. They head-bang during a climax in the song, but they didn't play the beginning of the song - nor did they play the end of the song. This second case could be used with many other examples. When the radio plays Freebird, but doesn't play the 9-minute album version. Hope you understand. Thanks for the comment!
@lucasbenedito81847 жыл бұрын
My english is bad, but i hope that you understand me. I totally agree with you, what i said is just an impressions that i had about the music. It's interesting the way that you used, for example, for justify the use of specify parts of a music in shows, films, and other things. In the end, we all conclude that Mastodon is a great band and make grow a different felling in each one.

It needs a few bars of instrumental between the two repeated verse parts, just to separate them. The repetition is a bit abrupt as it stands. Nevertheless, very nice. Thanks for doing this. The heavy part is decent but doesnt quite work imho

the thing that makes the original quality is all the parts together, you've basically just watered it down and made it repetitive. We all know these guys can create beautiful music thats why they are the ones writing it. Still you did a nice job cleanly piecing it together.
@xBigSurMoonx7 жыл бұрын
I respect the original version, too. I made this edit out of curiosity to see what it would sound like and I enjoyed the outcome. I thought I would share it to see if anyone else would enjoy listening as well. I agree with with you even in an extreme perspective as I often prefer to listen to an album in it's entirety or not at all. Other times I enjoy just the breakdown or solo within a song. In this case I chose these moments. This bit wasn't to suggest the original isn't quality, it's just an alternative look. I'm certainly not trying to write anything. Thanks for the comment!
