Let us take a moment and appreciate the work of Nick John, the band's late manager to whom the album, and this song especially, is dedicated. In interviews the band says they wouldn't be where they are without him and he worked hard behind the scenes because he believed in them. RIP, Nick, thank you!

It's definitely the best album they've put out since Crack the Skye and I think it's better personally. I don't know how well Crack the Skye has aged, but this album feels like timeless, classic rock.

Mastodon has really mastered the use of texture in music. The insturmentation always has that Mastodon style but they can do it smooth like sandpaper or smooth like silk. This song doesnt show their ability to play with contrast on its own but anyone who has been listening for a while knows they can play with any other pedal on

All I know is that I've been on this constant journey of music discovery for 30 years now, everything from Roy Orbison to Infant Annihilator, and this is probably in my top 10 favorite albums ever. I love Crack the Skye too, but this album just has a musical maturity to me without losing any of the trademarked Mastodon song structures and emotional grandeur. Even the last track, with it's simpler, more straight forward nature is a fucking masterpiece to me. Idk just love this album and it's been on rotation since it's dropped.

I recently Found mastodon in jail and has helped with my resentments and patience and general well-being they have great riffs and the drummer is on that danny carey neil pert level hell they all are great. I havent hardly listened to music in years cause of homelessness and drugs. I am a better person for this band mastodon thank you for inspiring me to listen to music again and to grow...

I really dig this album. Its like a hybrid between three most recent albums; compositionally I get a lot of similarities to The Hunter & OMRTS and with the bigger sounding production that was featured on Emperor of Sand.
