Mesmerizing voice, music and lyrics. The simplicity of 70's music is unforgettable ! Heart touching lyrics. Even the endind music adds more colour to this excellent work. Thanks all involved including the u tube authority.

No one mentions about the superlative lead guitarist Dickson Guneratne who played with the original Golden Chimes and subsequently with the SGC. His lead pieces provide a soothing backing for all of the original Golden Chimes and SGC songs. No one could produce the tone of his guitar and even now none can play these songs like him. Clarence did lot of songs to various artistes including Milton and all of them were backed by Super Golden Chimes. One of the best example is "Etha Ran Wiman Thulin" by Priya Sooryasena. No one has even attempted to play the lead up to now.
@akjengineering93075 жыл бұрын
100% agreed, his tone and playing was a distinct feature in all SGC songs and Music composed for various singers by the legend Clarence, still there is no one who can come even closer to Dixon the legend.

well, even now days DG cannot get close to his old self mainly because of the good old Yamaha sg-3, 0.008 gauge strings, eh phaser & the boss chorus on good old fender 65 black face twin reverb. the fender he uses now has different electronics & hence, uses different positions on the neck & picking positions than the original recordings. a friend of mine here, took up the guitar inspired by DG & Hank Marvin of the Shadows, have been researching on both men's tones for past 20+ years has come damn pretty close, even the playing styles. he modified his fender stratocasters electronics to that of Yamaha sg-3. it's not just Etha Ran Wiman Thulin" but he would play every song that DG originally played just like him on the record with the tone, positions (picking & on the neck) & the style. only slight difference one might notice he says, due to the facts that he uses 0.010 gauge &, software based roland js-10 or boss gt-10 to emulate fender twin reverb & the chorus & the phaser.

May be !-but "padmasiri of the fortunes/galaxies is my favorite /(brother of keerthi pasquel !)lwhen it comes to lead guitar !!

@@shehanjayawardane6870 Technically I am at a loss with guitars expect I know about Strats. Do you mean DG initially used a Yamaha or he used a Strat with Yamha strings. His first recording with GC is to back Three Sisters. The guitar tone of those songs were pure magic. Later on the tones were bit different but I think were more or less similar to Hank Marvin. One of the reasons I still listen to Clarence's song is to listen to DG's guitar sounds. Appreciate if you enlighten me.

@Meshalhasseen I 100% agree your statement of "I don't think there was a better vocalist in Sri Lanka". But his value is never appreciated. No one, perhaps except his own son to some degree, can sing his songs as he did. But here are thousands who can almost replicate the voice of Jothipala and some other popular singers.

Thanks for sharing! I still remember how Prmekeerthi was a hero in my childhood! I used to woke early to watch "Shanida Aubowan"! As a child of 3 years old, I was really shocked when I heard he was assassinated!
@ShuaibCassim Dear Shuaib, Thanks for the testimony. I guess we won't be bored of listening to these classics. In the animal kingdom the survival of the fittest, but I guess in human kingdom one has to give up than fighting to death :) I think Prem has written many similar songs (one wonders whether his life sory is embedded there). Regards Vidhura

@lucky4friends Same here, I was so fond of Prem, and I was gutted to hear that he was assassinated for political reasons. This is utter stupidity, killing an artiste for political reasons. I was shocked when I attended his funeral in 'Kala Bhawana' he was like real life. Felt very sad. Thanks for your comment Vidhura
