The mask sucked but the claw was very adequate. The choreography was a bit lacking as it could have been a bit more dramatic and powerful, especially when he finishes off the priest. This is still 1,000 times better than what Hollywood did though.

Actually that's is exactly what i'm watching right now. :) A friend of mine suggested to me recently. I have noticed this Matador short on the side while watching Assasin's fist. Btw, i did not know it was fan made and that it had a follow up. Thx for that. The acting is a bit off but the pace and storyline of it is awesome. I will look forward to the World Warrior.

Does The Broken Gear: a Final Fight film also count as a good Street Fighter live-action adaptation? I know it's based off of Final Fight, but everyone knows that that game is connected to the street fighter universe, so I guess it would make sense to consider The Broken Gear a street fighter movie as well.

@@crashingblow3753 I've never seen "Broken Gear". Gotta check it out. But yeah, Street Fighter and Final Fight are the same universe, so it would count. Jason Vu Yup! but I wonder why they didn't go with the actual original Japanese name "Balrog" Original names were Bison > VegaBalrog > Bison Vega > Balrog (The original Japanese version of Street Fighter II introduced an African-American boxer boss character, a parody of real-life boxer Mike Tyson. In order to avoid any likeness infringement lawsuit from Tyson, Capcom rotated the names of three of the boss characters for international versions of the game. The final boss, named Vega in the Japanese version, was given the M. Bison name, the talon-wielding Spanish warrior, named Balrog in the Japanese version, was renamed Vega, and the boxer became Balrog.)

Character was never my style and the flashy flamboyant nature they gave to the psychopathic killer just grained on me as the series continued. Another reason is because of the snake tattoo across Claw's chest since apparently the actual Balrog looks a little bit like a snake. Another reason behind why Claw and Boxer hate each other is a Matador/Bull relationship, with the boxer as the Bull

the ending was incredible, it subtly showed that Vega only uses his trauma as an excuse for his crimes and evil. The priest talks about what Vega's mother would think of all this and Vega gets angry and kills him, as he couldn't accept the truth, the true reason for his actions, with Bison appearing at the end and him throwing the rose, it would be him accepting his true reason for being what he is. It's incredible how these small Street Fighter productions can be so much better than a Hollywood film

A nice detail is that the adult Vega speaks in Catalan, and the mother sometimes speaks it briefly too, This is probably her primary lenguage and Vega kept it as his as well, I don't know if it was the film makers idea or maybe the cast, but in my opinion this simple thing added a lot to the story and shows a real commitment from the people behind the film. I really hope there's more to come, and that it hopefully won't take another two+ years until they can do it.

But growing older and binge watching these SF canon based short films and flicks, I already went beyond Sonic Booms, Fireballs, military missions, revenge and proving greatness. Through the years I have grown to appreciate Vega and Feilong for their swift, natural fighting skills and deep storylines: Vega's tragic backstory as depicted here, and Feilong's character, background, skills and philosophy which were patterned after the late Bruce Lee.

Very easily without a doubt the BEST short film I have seen to this day and of all time. I have literally watched this at least like ten times or so all up and no matter how many times I see this, This is still just as poetic and deep as it was the very first time I saw this because watching this has literally made me realize just how much more there is to the character because you think that Vega is just so narcissistic and self-loving just because he's full of himself when in reality, He still just that lost little boy from all those years ago and in many ways can be seen as a form of PTSD on why he see's beauty as 'Heroism and Strength' and 'Ugliness' as not only repulsive but as a 'threat'. When they created this, They created more than a story, They created a life that we all lived and witnessed with our own two eyes. So in closing, I got to say that this short film is completely and totally.. A thing of beauty.

Be more human.

This, Assassin's Fist, and Balrog: Behind the Glory go to show that live-action adaptations of Street Fighter CAN work, and work well. I think the whole problem with the last two Hollywood adaptations is that the directors really just wanted to make completely different movies, and just slapped loose adaptations of the video game characters into their scripts with little regard for the source material. But live-action Street Fighter CAN be amazing! And it's such a blessing to have not one, not two, but three examples to show us how it can and should be done.
@KEN-1991

Actually, making a live-action movie based on Street Fighter has not been easy, that's why Assassin's Fist Season 2 didn't get off the ground. Putting a complete star-cast as the World Warriors in the movie takes as big of a budget as a Marvel, DC, or Star Wars movie. Because half of the cast involves realistic CGI instead of actors; namely Blanka, Zangief, Dhalsim, T. Hawk, Sagat, Akuma, and Chun-Li's legs. Due to them being freakish in appearance and anatomy, with physically impossible moves.

So Vega was a young boy, who witnessed the murder of his mother by his step-father, who both fell out the window. He takes his set of claws and kills him, avenging her death. But then eventually along the line, he gets too deep in with the killings and all, and felt that for exposing him and his mother to the step-father, he feels that the priest has to pay the price for it, thus killing him. And that's all what led him to that life of crime. But for him to go through such a agonizing moment for his mother to be savagely beaten, strangled, and then killed by his step-father, I feel really bad for him.

This made me cry man. I have always had mad love for vega. Cause he is a spaniard. I am also spaniard my self. I love how they spoke in catalan. That's the language my great grandfather spoke. Watching this made me think so much of my great grandfather. He immigrated from Barcelona. And was a bullfighter. So ya. This was Beautiful and very well done. 🇪🇸🌹

I apologize for not seeing this sooner, as he's my favorite character to use in Street Fighter. Sirs, it is redundant to be told this, but this film is incredible to watch. It captured Vega's essence, his elegant ferocity, and the authenticity of his origin. I want to say that this needs to be expanded beyond this short film. Superb work, sirs. Muchas gracias por esta obra de arte.

I loved both this and the one about Balrog (Mike Bison). You guys should do a video like this about Sagat, he is an amazing character with a VERY dark and colourful background. Having fought (and lost to) Ryu & Ken's master - Gouken, even killed Dan's father (Go Hibiki - Gouken's friend too) to whom he lost his right eye to, also that scar on his chest from Ryu's rising dragon punch.

Danthepest1 In a non canonical story, it was in one of the OLD Street Fighter comics in the 90s that showed how M Bison also killed Gouken and Chun Li falling for Ryu.

Yes. I've wanted to see this movie made since seeing that Balrog film. This was great. It really puts Vega's tragic past in a more public light. Very nice job. Although it's clear they used some creative liberty about his biological father and that priest stuff, it had a nice presentation to it. The origin of the flourish on Vega's mask stemming from his mother's scar isn't canon, but it's still a nice detail they created. The death of his mother, however, seemed more accidental in this case. Not like the story goes. I'll have to read up on Vega's bio in some Street Fighter encyclopedia, as his background in the Street Fighter Wiki isn't as well sourced as I'd like to keep it. Tenouttaten.

So Ken is a celebrated world champion fighter, who has money, has a wife (while he flirts with other women), a son, and is loved by his country Meanwhile Vega is a misunderstood orphan (who we can assume was homeless and poor at this point )who is feared in his own homeland, seen his mother's death; avenged his mother by killing a man AS A CHILD, and uses a weapon handed down from his father's legacy. Who's the Villain here?

Hmm, Ken who has a family but harmlessly flirts a little and is a champion that has money. Or Vega, someone who turned psychopath due to his childhood but a psychopath that kills people regardless... If you really think Ken is a villain compared to Vega then wow. Having a harsh background does not exempt you from your actions.
