Both hide in the depths of one's soul and are unrelenting powers that plague the heroes of the Tekken and Street fighter universes respectively. "Is the quest for power just when the cost is your own humanity?" When these two powers discover the existence of one another, it changes the fate of many warriors from both worlds.
When the renowned world warrior Ryu, (from Street Fighter lore) begins to struggle with the darkness inside (The "Satsui no hadou") it attracts the attention of a man who has come to fully accept his own darkness, Kazuya Mishima (Tekken series regular). With the Devil Gene howling inside Ryu's mind, Kazuya attacks, catching him off guard and taking advantage of his battle within. Who will win when these worlds collide?

I still love the attention to detail. Ryu's power, Ken's speed, and Kazuya's rage. Ryu is stronger than Ken and Ken is faster than Ryu. It's cool how Kazuya has to adjust to Ken after switching from Ryu. He used wit to counter Ryu's power and used rage to tank through Ken's speed, making this fight very realistic. 10/10 Great job!

If I remember correctly, Kazuya wanted to obtain absolute power after dealing with the punishment of being thrown into a volcano by Heihachi Mishima. Not only that, Kazuya wanted to kill Heihachi after punished by him for having the devil gene.

You're partially right. Since Tekken 7 was released and we found out that Kazumi was the source of the Devil Gene and that Kazuya inherited it from her. So that means that The Devil Gene triggered upon death and actually saved him from dying similar to how Jin first triggered it after being shot in the head in Tekken 3. After Kazuya survived the fall the only thing he was after was revenge from being thrown off a cliff he eventually got it but Heihachi came right back and tossed him into the volcano. It wasn't until 20 years later when he was resurrected by G-Corp that he wanted 3 things: Controlling the Devil Gene within him (which he successfully did), taking Jin's Devil Gene to fuse it with his own, and putting an end to Heihachi once and for all. So yes in a sense he wanted Jin's Devil Gene to add to his own for more power but not really "godhood". And it wasn't until his 2nd resurrection when he found out that he had a son, Jin, who inherited his Devil Gene that he wanted more power not the 1st. After his 1st resurrection he only wanted to kill Heihachi and nothing more.

Jin want's to atone for his family's hatred. I really like how Jin's Devil form is more angelic look that Kazuya's. At first, Jin has lost gone berserk thanks to the Devil Gene. But now, he overcame the Devil thanks to his benevolent nature.

Not really. Jin isn't atoning for anything. He believes that by destroying the source of his Devil Gene would free him from his own curse which is why he's constantly fighting Kazuya & Heihachi. In Tekken 6, he also believed that by killing Azazel he would also free himself from it (he was wrong in the end), that's why he caused the world to descend into mayhem and war so he can lure Kazuya into a fight and their fighting energy would awaken Azazel (similar to Majin Buu's awakening in DBZ). So Jin isn't really a good guy atoning for his family's cursed blood, people thought he was a bad guy because he killed so many innocent people during this war just to get Kazuya's attention. And it's not really confirmed that he overcame it or can fully control the Devil Gene like Kazuya can. You're sort of right about his design, his Devil Form design is much more different than Kazuya's. His wings are feathered and black signifying a fallen angel and an important part of his design that people overlook, the chains on his body. Jin while in his normal form has no chains on him because he's not influenced by the Devil Gene but when he is transformed he is covered in chains, this is a sign that Jin is a slave to the Devil's will and under his control. The chains symbolize slavery. It also proves my point on how he actually didn't overcome the Devil Gene and can't fully control it or himself when he is in his Devil Form. Kazuya is different, he doesn't have chains around him because he isn't under anyone's control or influence, Kazuya is fully in control of his own Devil Gene hence why he doesn't have chains on his body like Jin does.

At first, Ryu is facing Kaguya, then he suddenly turns because these guys obviously don’t have the budget or resources to actually send a stunt double with wire through break-away furniture into a CGI background, and then they work around the disorientation by turning it into a follow-through roll that A. keeps the audience from questioning the exact trajectory of Ryu’s fall with shaky cam and B. disorients the audience’s sense of direction enough for the small dissonance of the first cut to be lost in the action. Finally, it eases out of the disorienting camera work to the macro scale, where we’re now more focused on establishing Kaguya as a powerful threat through appreciation of the amount of force he sent Ryu flying with rather than analyzing each individual action(which retroactively hides the small direction switch at the beginning even FURTHER without compromising the ongoing action), which we are drawn into because of both the raising stakes and the increasing anticipation of Ryu tapping into his dark energy for a comeback. Every shot for and direction choice taken here is meant to hide the discrepancy created by a lack of professional budget and stunt tools; it so expertly treads the line between concealment and fight progression, so gently but firmly pulls the attention of the viewer to other equally important things that the former is hardly noticeable at all. I wish I had found this fab film sooner. The younger me could’ve learned a lot from the talented man behind the camera.

Salute to the dude who was Kazuya. Even though Kazuya is obviously evil, as a traditional Japanese fighter (from Tekken's perspective) he still has honor in the fight. Dan Southworth (Ryu) is also the voice actor for Vergil for DMC. Reuben Langdon (Ken) is also the voice of Dante, and he's worked in Power Rangers as a stuntman too around the time Dan was in Time Force. They also do the stunt work for mocap scenes of DMC.

Mark Musashi played Kazuya to the T. He got the voice and the Kazama fight style spot-on with the clothing and the hair (gloves were not great) but lacked the mass Kazuya usually has. Great work, team!

You stayed true to the source and that's part of why this rocks. It's all there : the fighting styles, the special moves, the chants that go with those special moves (which thankfully don't sound corny like when major studios do it), and you also gave it the style that fighting games like Tekken and SF are known for. Hollywood studios could learn a lot from indy projects like this, especially seeing the positive feedback. I wish for your studio to get funded, so you can make a full feature film with the inclusion of other fan-favorite characters. Amazing work. I have to learn Japanese! Baddest language in the world (I mean that in the GOOD way)! PS : For next installment, I vote to add Chun Li, Guile (or Bryan), and Nina Williams :)

I love that this gave ken masters some well deserved attention. It even pays attention to the fact that even though they learned the same style they are two distinctly different fighters. I ended up here way after the My Hero Academia videos and I gotta say I'm definitely pleased with what I found.

10 years later and I'm back! Fell in a rabbit hole that started with my friends talking about DMC, then Quantum Ranger BftG trailer, watched some old footage of Time Force, saw that he played Ryu in the comments, and came back here after a decade. God, I still love this short film so much.

I know its been said before, but the sequence between Ken x Kazuya deserves like an oscar or something. Honest Eyes is a heart pumping beat that perfectly backs the back and forth between Kazuya and Ken. Ken's loyalty to Ryu, that little bit of cockiness that makes you excited for the fight. Then Ken speaks Japanese and surprises Kazuya. Brilliant choreography and directing.

What I love about this fan film is how the Devil Gene and the Dark Hadou interact with Ryu and Jin. The Devil Gene is very calm, reserved but every word has very sinister undertones to it. Using it's very presence to slowly break down Ryu's will bit by bit. The Dark hadou on the other hand was more brutal, vicious and even challenging. It used its presence to utterly dominate and crush Jin's will.

Ok, I'ma go through a few reasons why this deserves a sequel. The geography - was so well done, it's satisfying to watch and exactly what we expected from playing SF. The actors - i was so convinced that these were the real life versions of the characters from the games, especially the one who played Kazuya. And i really loved Ken and it surprised me that it was his voice actor who played him and had no idea how much he looked like him. Detail - the details in this short film was incredible. You had the dojo, the scene where Ryu was meditating in front of a picture of master Gouken, just that scene tells a whole story with itself. The combos the characters did were very reminiscent. Like Ken doing the ultra combo. And you can see Kazuya adapting to both Ryu and Ken's fighting styles. Scenes - these were one of the best scenes I've ever watched. I love the back and forth communication Devil Jin and Evil Ryu had, both trying to wake up the evil within each other. It's amazing because it lets us know that there will be a big battle coming. The rise of Jin waking up and turning into Devil Jin was breath taking. The eyes of the Mishima family were intimidating. Conclusion - this was an fantastic job of cinematography. Good quality too. If this were a Netflix movie or series, i would without any doubt watch it. Also the cherry on top was the music from the game itself like... C'mon... Amazing!
