The song is linked to the novel "Perfume: The Story of a Murderer" by Patrick Süskind. Till Lindemann is a great admirer of his work. Till probably refers to one of the background stories the novel is inspired by. It's about the Spanish serial killer Manuel Blanco Romasanta, about whom the press reported in detail for the first time. He killed several women, children, sold their clothes and extracted their body fat to make soap. As "Werewolf of Allariz" he became part of the Spanish folklore. Also, til this day it's still one of my favorite songs and music video!

Hmm, I thought it was linked to the poetry works of a writer, who explored the psychology, or mental perception of a paedophile. Not to sound sick, I'm not saying Till condoned it, but he is interested in poetry and literature right? I read somewhere the song is a frame work of the insane mind of a paedophile seeking his next victim because he is consumed by his lust for his sickness. The lyrics do marry up with that perspective.. the opening line is "the insanity" Read the lyrics with my version in mind, and see what you think. Then again, who knows?

Although the original video was the 1995 one, not with scenes from films or anything (pity Feuer frei! doesn't have its own video). The quality and so is better in this one, but the 1995 was an example of what Rammstein are: "simple stuff but charged with lots of meanings". Now they have decide to push it to the limit with videos like Deutschland or Zeit, masterpieces, but there's always a place for the starting times, when Rammstein made stunning live performances that blew the mind of so many people (remember Family Values Tour lol)

The song was also the first music video. this video you see is from 1998 and a remake. because rammstein was not satisfied with the first video and had no say in it. as for their videos.
