Main dealer service techs get a lot of stick across all brands but there are proper wizards out there proud of their work, great to see Simon work his magic on your 720s and as if to rubber stamp my comment he didn't want to let the car leave without sorting the fuel drain pipe, rather than just point it out. Superb service and a credit to McLaren. Props to McLaren Birmingham for letting us watch the process too.

Then you could measure the old oil and see how much it holds vs how much it might have used, etc..

0:27 actually in the factory, they have a lane, where the car is pushed at each section. The sections have the tools and parts for the specific point of the build. So one guy might put on a few of those cables, but then wheel it to the next section and he will just repeat the same job over and over. bit boring tbh. They have a touch screen computer with interactive controls and video showing how to fit the parts. So everything is fully documented with video for any mechanic. Maybe good for new staff. A car starts as a tub, and finishes as a complete car, going down 3 lanes, in a factory the size of a football field, so Id guess about 50 steps. Paint is all done in a separate section on the other side of the building, in the basement is a canteen and the massive parts warehouse, also at the side they have some engine stuff. its cool place to walk around

The 4WD on that Lambo is a cheat code. The track layout wasn't helping either, but I was pretty sure you'd take it in the 720, in the dry. It doesn't matter though, because the build is a great accomplishment, and the end result is stunning. Well done.

Infact I think Gordon Murray’s car collection doesn’t have any cars over a tonne. You’ll also love the feel of driving a pure lightweight RW drive car, no PS…. Maybe even no ABS 🫣 I’ve a MK1 MX5 with a Flyin Miata Turbo kit, it’s a bit of a dog TBH but I do love tracking and hill climbing it. Performante has been heavily engineered towards race track in mind, but to still keep it street legal and it's 4WD V10 which makes huge difference between RWD V8 Biturbo 720S when you need a quick boost out from corners always pick a V10 with 4WD. When you think about motors in general V8 is a booster with turbo/supercharger so it needs that spool time before it kicks, but it can be tuned higher than V10, because V10 has more moving parts that creates more heat and tuning them up too much will make those engines scream, but it's just early death scream for the engine. Anyway in track record purpose 4WD will win if set with a good engine.

21:00 Madness, I got a driving experience last week, I paid extra to drive the 720s, but it was a 2 car experience, so the first was the same Lambo. I drove both. I felt the lambo controls felt light and flimsy, but it was quick. The mclaren felt stern and solid controls (pedals, steering wheel etc), it also felt quick. I think in straight line the mclaren will clean up, but in corners, maybe mclaren just gets it. but now i get to see what the true results are with proper drivers. Such a coincidence I find this video now. lol

FYI for future reference with digital oil level issues. If you want to be sure you have the correct amount of oil in your car, just simply drain it out via the drain plug and measure how much oil comes out of the car. Do the math on how much the car needs minus the filter volume if it's not a vertical filter and you can figure how much oil you really have in your car. At least this way you won't start the car up. And run the crap out of it before finding out you have low oil or no oil and doing further damage. That's with a wet sump design engine. If you have a dry sump engine, you'd have to drain it from both reservoirs. Most vehicles are wet sump.
