Pretty sure secondary cats are for cold start emissions for some European countries, UK MOTs test once warm so you are correct. I always get them in the bin 😂 love it, you know your car is loud when it causes you to run away haha

There is a real placebo effect going on here Mat. With the valves open, the backbox is bypassed entirely (follow the gas flow through the system and you'll see what I mean), so the stock backbox and the QuickSilver one will sound NO different at all. How could it, as with the valves open the backbox is not used!? The only difference you'll see is when the valves are closed, then the gas goes through the backbox and in that mode, I found the Quicksilver box (I have a v8 DB11) was actually a bit quieter than the stock one. Quicksilver sell a manual override for the valves that allow you to have the valves open in any mode which is useful, but I don't think replacing the backbox is a particularly worthwhile mod.

Great video as always Matt 😅 I think they changed the law recently so when your car gets mot’d in the uk you have to have the same number of boxes on your car that it left factory with, so technically the secondary cat deletes are illegal from now on. I could be wrong tho (hopefully) 😬

Nah you’re spot on. My car came with four cats and now mysteriously only has two that are high flow but, I don’t believe unless an MOT tester knows the car, they’d realistically know at all, or care. I’m sure though, if you got pulled by a VOSA/police spot check, they’d have the data to say what it should have from the factory. That said, if you’re messing with the exhaust you’ve probably also lowered it, and I’ll be fckd if they could jack mine up without race ramps lol 😂

Your absolutely spot on however it's not boxes, you can make it louder as long as it's in the noise threshold however if a car was fitted which all cars post '92 have been then legally it has to be there for MOT so it's not about knowing the car it's just is it newer than 1992 of yes it must have a car fitted.
